Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe room was so small! Crazy small. It was difficult getting my suitcase into the room and to maneuver the luggage on the staircase.
I liked the staff and the property is certainly unique; the bed was comfortable and the shower was nice.

Sri LankaJust needs a refurb but I understand not all hotels can afford this right now.
Amazing quiet location. It’s a very small and bad designed hotel. The room was ok, it was clean that was the main thing. Little balcony but nothing like the photos.

United KingdomThe shower room didn't have a working extractor so it was very warm and stuffy. The towel rail was rusty so we didn't want to use it. The towels were also very small, which isn't great when you have to cross a common hallway. A number of lights/bulbs weren't working. The bed were two singles pushed together and they kept sliding apart, they were also worn and uncomfortable. The room was clean but the wallpaper was torn in places and there were stains on the wall. The sheets and spare duvets were stained, the spare duvets didnt have covers either. The TV didn't work The sound travelled quite easily so we could hear people showering early in the morning. Luggage room whilst useful wasn't secure so I didn't want to leave anything in a unlocked case.
Location was great and the shower was good too. The staff were approachable and helpful. They also had a luggage room to store bags before check in and after check out.

AustraliaThe rooms are all very small. Originally we were in a double room, but we had requested a twin room. The manager was very helpful and gave us a choice of rooms. The rubbish bin in the room wasn't emptied for 4 days and we had to ask. We had the same towels for a week. The shower screen was damaged and difficult to open/close. I have stayed at the Sheriff twice in the past and it was previously a better standard.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location was very convenient.

SpainMore than one cup for tea, the bed side table to be placed on the other side of the bed. One side has a side unit and a shelf, the other had nothing. Also lamp shades for the bed lights, and batteries in the remote control.
We had the room with the balcony, it was lovely to have the little outside space. The rooms are small, but its to be expected for the price and location in London. The outdoor furniture was a little broken so we couldn't both sit out together. Bathroom was spotless

CanadaClimb up to 5th floor was a bit of a challenge with luggage but ok but we knew there was no lift. Not sure if main hotel is nicer than annex but that’s where we were put (maybe as we needed two beds)
For price considering other mainstream hotels closer to Victoria Station, it was fine considering it was just a place to sleep. No air con which turned out to be tough on the 5th floor of the annex on a hot day. No regrets.

United KingdomThe balcony hadn't been swept, as there were lots of cigarette ends on the floor. There was one bedside table, which was on the outside of one of the beds, so the occupant of the other bed had to put their things on the floor. It would've been better positioned in the middle of the the 2 beds, but was too heavy for us to lift & move. There were polystyrene cups for tea/coffee & plastic glasses for water-not very environment friendly. The floor in the bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned & looked stained. I realised afterwards that some chemical had taken the surface off the floor, which made it look stained, but there were other areas that didn't look clean & I was able to wipe them with tissue. Needless to say, we didn't put bare feet on the floor. I informed the receptionist on our way out, but when we got back it looked as though they had cleaned the shower base again & not the floor!!!
The beds were really comfortable & we had a balcony, which was over looking the back of dirty buildings, but was nice to have. The location was great & the hotel is situated on a quiet street.

location is good not too far from buchingham walking distance to much of London and tubes. people at the front were friendly.

ItalyThe stairs (steep) and the cleaning.
The Hotel is 10 minutes walk from Victoria station. The area is quite calm and during the night there are no noise. The room had 4 beds and a very little wardrobe and a little armchair with a little safe-deposit box. The mattresses was soft but comfortable. No refrigerator. The price was cheap comparing to the location.

IrelandWe had ordered an en-suite room and had this confirmed. When we arrived we were given a room with our own bathroom BUT it was in the corridor, meaning we had to go out of our room and go down 3 stairs to get to bathroom. This was very inconvenient, not only when going to the toilet in the middle of the night but also when getting ready in the morning. We had brought a wheelchair for my daughter, who can’t walk distances. I had written to inform Hotel and asked if we could store wheelchair somewhere downstairs and had confirmation that this was possible. I believe that we were put in the room we were in because it may have been a bigger room (though it was crammed with beds) in order to have wheelchair in the room (it was ground floor).
The location was very good. The beds was comfortable, however slipping away from the headboard.
