How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

We had no complaints at all.
We were delighted with our stay at this guest house after 10 days travelling in the Highlands. Location was excellent for walking up to the fabulous viewpoint at Carlton Hill and along into town. The guesthouse itself is an incredibly beautiful and fabulously decorated home. Room was marvellous with an enormous comfortable bed and everything we needed. We were given a very friendly welcome and all the information and advice needed. Breakfast was served in the dining room and we were very well catered for being vegetarian. Would certainly recommend to any couples visiting Edinburgh who would like to stay in beautiful Edwardian townhouse rather than a run of the mill generic chain hotel.

Nothing everthing was so good.
The breakfast was very good with also vegan/vegetarian options. The personal was very friendly. The location was good, but maybe a bit far from the city center. It's also nice that you have a good possibabilty to park near the hotel.

No parking possibility in the vicinity. Nearest parking garage is 15 minutes walk away (24 GBP per day).
Very good location, many sights are within walking distance. Bus station in the immediate vicinity. Nice landlady and good breakfast.

I hate to complain at all, as the place was amazing, but I would say that the mattress was a tad hard. It didn’t quite fit the luxury of the amazing linens and decor. Also, as it was our first time in Edinburgh, I also wish it was a bit closer to the center of town. While not far, it was too long of a walk to just drop off purchases or grab a sweater and head back out.
Six Brunton Place is an absolutely lovely place to stay in Edinburgh. Truly authentic and the host’s attention to detail was amazing. The amenities that she has chosen are very high end and luxurious. The breakfast provided was really delicious. There is also a fantastic restaurant directly across the road which I also highly recommend for lunch or dinner.

Beautiful room with added benefit of access to garden with table and chairs for relaxing. Wonderful welcoming and accommodating staff and host, nothing was too much of an ask and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Not driving meant we selected to traverse Edinburgh on foot. Given the general terrain, that meant a circuitous route to get to our destination from Waverley station. Like every large city in Spring, the construction activities ramp up, making the journey more hazardous.
We were greeted by our host promptly upon arriving, and told after we settled to come up for a glass of wine. Played chess in the relaxing front room while recovering from our travels. Breakfast was scrumptious, with plenty of options.Bathroom was spacious and we slept well.

The Wi-Fi in the basement level rooms is weak and cuts out from time to time which is challenging at times.
Beautiful Georgian property in the new town within walking distance to all the amenities and landmarks.

Directions to get there. The place was not on our GPS. Luckily a staff member we called called back and led us there.
This was a very spacious room. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. The room was spotless. Lots of good places around to eat. Don't forget to investigate the garden and the underground tunnels if you are in garden room.

everything - the room was great, the bathroom even had a tub. Hilary was very friendly and welcoming. the location is great, you can walk easily to Calton Hill to enjoy the view over Edinburgh, the train station is not far and there are several bus stops nearby. also, the breakfast has good options :)

Friendly staff and very accommodating of an earlier arrival. Breakfast was lovely. Location is excellent for the city centre, both walking distance and bus stops right at the door.
