Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing at all.
We liked everything! In particular the 5* luxury of the accommodation, the cosy comfortable beds, the spacious bathroom with underfloor heating and the superb breakfasts. But most of all we enjoyed meeting our host who was just so welcoming and couldn't do enough to make his guests feel at home and provide every convenience to make their stay special. We felt totally spoilt. Thank you so much, we loved staying with you.

United Statesseparate hot and cold water faucets for bathroom sink. inability to consume takeaway food in any of the common areas. access road off main thoroughfare in need of chuck hole repairs. we were happy to reuse our towels each day hanging them up, but these were replaced each day, probably unnecessarily.
very welcoming, friendly, helpful host with great sense of humor, and commendable attitude of service to guests. exceptional breakfast! appreciate the use of a cooler with ice packs rotated daily.

United KingdomNot much and these are just small things which did not impact our stay but the road surface of the drive from the main road to the property is awful and full of potholes. Secondly, the pump in the shower in our room was very loud but as I said, these things are just small.
A large, comfortable, cosy place to stay on Islay. Thomas (the wonderful chap who runs the place along with his wife) was amazing and made our stay even more special. Right from the minute we arrived we felt very welcome. Our room was large and well laid out with all the amenities you could need. The lounge was large and comfortable and the breakfast room was also a good size. The breakfasts were excellent and although there is a good menu, Thomas made it clear that they would try and accommodate anything we wanted. The location is excellent for visiting anywhere on the island. Thomas provided a small fridge for us which was a nice thought and he even allowed me to wash my car using a hose he had outside the building. I cannot praise Thomas highly enough, a truely exceptional host and a great place to stay.

I am gluten and dairy free and this was cattered for perfectly! The shower in our room was very good and powered, I found it hard to leave the shower after showering! The food was fresh and very healthy. We were offered fresh tea in the lounge upon arrival which was very welcoming.

Breakfast was freshly made and exceptionally good! Thomas the host serves with a smile and goes the extra mile to make sure you are cared for in every way!! The house even has a drying room where you can dry your clothes after a wet walk in one of the nature reserves close by!! On top of that, if it is wet and muddy you can borrow wellies so your feet don't get soaked!!! the tv in the room has a freeview box and a serious amount of tv channels to enjoy snuggled in bed after a lovely hot shower in the massive walk in shower or a good soak in the free standing bath :)

We were welcomed by Thomas the host, who is very welcoming and showed us around. The place clearly signposted from the road and the building and private parking is immaculate! The rooms are very spacey and the bathroom( almost the same space as the bedroom!! contains a walk in shower and there is a beautiful free standing bath! The house has a big cosy living room where you can relax or talk to other guests if you don't want to be alone in your room everything is finished in detail and after staying here we will come back and we agreed the price is a bargain for what you get!! United KingdomNothing, it was perfect!
We received a very warm welcome and a detailed tour of the house and its facilities. The bedroom and shower room/toilet were luxurious with all the facilities you could require. There was also a comfortable and welcoming lounge for guests. There was ample parking in the courtyard to the rear of the property. The range of food that was available for breakfast was extensive and absolutely delicious. The host was obviously born to be a host. He was an extremely helpful, charming, funny man whose sole purpose in life was to make the guests happy and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. This is very possibly the best B&B/Guesthouse I have ever stayed in and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Islay.

United KingdomAs with other accommodations on Islay it was well over the price found on other parts of Scotland.
Superb variety on display at breakfast, excellent service from friendly staff House was easy to find and to park. Comfortable public areas including lounges. It was possible to stay for just one night. Many other places on the island would not do this.

Thomas the host was very attentive - nothing was too much hassle. He was present when needed but not in your face or personal space like I have experienced with some other hosts. The accommodation was very modern, comfortable and immaculately clean. I've also never tasted such a lovely breakfast. Again Thomas adapted the menu that he presents as a 'guide' in order to suit you're taste buds and/or dietary requirements! The continental and buffet food was fantastic too with a nice varied mix to choose from including some lovely fresh fruit!

United KingdomA bit pricey, but it was worth it. Wi-Fi was slow at times (but we could still watch Netflix during the evening).
It was an emergency booking, they replied very quickly to confirm it. As we arrived, the manager prepared us some tea, and because we were without a vehicle (no food in the area) they treated us with a couple of sandwiches. The room was super clean and very comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and huge!

United KingdomThe ONLY tiny thing was the water pressure was a little low in the bathroom we were in, perhaps as it was at the end of the plumbing system! It just took a while to fill the bath but the water was hot and it really didnt matter.
The stay was so wonderful, we had an amazing time at Skerrols. Tomas was a great host, so welcoming and friendly and make a point of speaking kindly to my children so they felt at home. We loved the lounge area for the guests, the free drinks, chess area and being made to feel so welcome. The breakfast was the best we have ever had in a B and B, fresh fruits of all sorts and an amazing cooked option.
