Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumThe beds are positioned so that you have to climb on the short side which makes it hard to get into them. The lockers are big enough to hold a hiking backpack, but not suitcases over 20 kg. There was no other option to store luggage so people's stuff was everywhere.
Very good location, but still pretty quiet. Lovely lounge and courtyard.

BelgiumThere were rules everywhere. Like: all your stuff had to be in the locker, or they would remove it and you would have to pay. They didn't do it, but the rules were very aggressively posted everywhere. Our shower-toilet combo (in room) was very small. Because there was no shower curtain, for the whole length of the shower, the toilet would always get wet as well. And with one shower/toilet combo for 10 people, it was just gross the complete time.
Beds were very private. Everyone had their own pod with a curtain, which was very nice. Slept quite well there.

United KingdomThe steps to the hostel are very steep. It's tricky with a suitcase and wouldn't be suitable for travelling parents with a pushchair unless u fancy folding and lifting. Same goes for the Mornington Crescent underground nearest station (66 steps up and down). Obviously this only applies if you're travelling with kiddies. Most people who stayed here when we did were internationals travelling solo or in groups.
We really enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. We felt safe. I booked a 4 day stay with my 9 year old and we had our own room with an ensuite. It was small but well designed so had what we needed (hooks for towels and coats, usb ports and sockets, 2 bedside tables, 2 reading lights, heater, AC unit, shower, sink, toilet, toilet paper, shower wash, borrow a hairdryer, storage for hanging and storing clothes and shoes, bin). It was exceptionally clean throughout. Buses could be boarded opposite the hostel and around the corner. Underground links were 5 minutes down the road. Aldi was up the road so we cooked dinner in the stylish and modern kitchen a couple evenings to keep it budget. You get a free breakfast if you post a photo to Instagram in the morning. Breakfast consisted of cereal, pancakes, toast with choc spread / jams / honey / boiled eggs / ham / cheese, tea, coffee, hot choc. You can store your own food in the fridge and there's luggage storage for when you checkout and still want to explore. We didn't use the communal lounge but it looked comfy and had netflix. WiFi was very good. We would stay again and managed to travel everywhere we needed to.

FranceBathroom is really tiny. I am tall and that was extremely difficult to wash my teeth !!! Age policy simply is discrimination, it shouldn't exist. If the hostel want to develop a fair prices policy, it has to do it based on income and not on age.

LatviaEach bed has a small light and a USB charging port. Unfortunately, the USB port did not work for my bed and there were only 2 sockets in the room so that 6 people could charge their devices (as far as I understood from other guests, their USB port did not work either).
The reception staff were always kind and if there was something unclear, they explained everything. The location is good - less than 10 minutes walk to Camden Market, public transport nearby, various shops and cafes.

ArgentinaMy room, B03, was right under the reception and it was noisy since you can hear people entering and leaving the reception area. So, if you're thinking about staying here, maybe ask for a room that's not under busy spots like the reception. The place is cool and all, super clean and comfy, but a quieter room would've made it perfect.
I stayed at this hostel recently, and it was super clean everywhere! Even though my room was a bit on the small, it was still really cozy and comfy.

United KingdomThe toilet is very small. I didn’t really use it, so I wouldn’t know much.
I just stayed one night (less than 12 hours). I checked in at 11pm and checked out at 9am. I liked the fact that they give you the bed sheets and you put them on the bed yourself. There were no bed bugs or rats or anything of a such which is a good thing! The location is central which gives the place a good value of price!

HungaryThey only have USB outlets by the beds, not the type C ones on or regular sockets, so it was a bit inconvenient to charge my phone, I had to charge in the common area. Otherwise everything was great.
I had never stayed in a hostel by myself before so I was a bit worried what it was going to be like but I was really satisfied and I felt safe, the staff and the other guests were all very nice and I enjoyed my stay a lot, it's perfect for a solo traveller for a weekend trip.
