Would not stay here again due to extra charge for using pool, £10 for 15 min swim is too excessive

The new charge for using swimming pool didn’t show in email until after I made my booking. If I had known I had to pay £10 to use pool I would have stayed at another hotel, that was same rate and pool was free for hotel guests!

Location great, staff were very efficient and friendly

Room was clean but very tired. Paint work was chipped, the bottom of the bathroom door was in poor condition, laminate peeling away, paint on ceiling flaking off. Old fashioned and poorly kept furniture. Staff in restaurant at breakfast less than friendly!

Checking in was not smooth and blamed on a system not loading my booking so long delay which I found embarrassing as queue was very long. Breakfast was chaotic and disorganised and needs reviewing. Disappointed as was hoping for a relaxed leisurely breakfast.

Room was clean , comfortable with lovely shower facilities. Room had everything required and good choice of hot drinks as well as some cold drinks in the fridge. Very quiet and not disturbed by any guests coming or going.

I am coeliac so found the evening menu very limited in choice. The breakfast was fine with all the available food clearly labelled.

The location was perfect for our time in Exeter. The hotel was very spacious and the room we had was comfortable and quiet.

It's a shame that you now have to pay an additional ten pounds per person per visit for the pool. This is part of the reason my husband and I choose this hotel. We come child free and enjoy the use of the pool too. The extra money doesn't make it seem worth it.

Breakfast is gorgeous, lots of choice and good quality. Hotel rooms are great too, upgrade if you can, its worth it.

Shower didn't let water out as was blocked which subsequently flooded bathroom. (Staff were brilliant and sorted quite quickly. We had complementary drink whilst we waited but this meant my wife had only pulled on some gym trousers and top quickly and felt scruffy and had wet hair whilst having her drink). Two lights in bedroom didn't work - reading light by bed and table lamp. Curtain hook was detached on one of the curtains which made curtain didnt hang correctly.

Location was perfect. Staff were brilliant.

Breakfast/ restaurant meals and drinks very expensive.. would have liked option of affordable bar snack!. Pillows very hard. Also were not told about swimming pool being separate entity to the Mercure hotel .Fortunately we were waived fee because we booked before April. But from now on will be £10 for hotel users.

Great location in lovely quiet gardens close to cathedral & city, very welcoming friendly staff. Attractive Foyer/ restaurant/ bar area.

Our room The lights didn't work properly It seemed a little outdated My son slept on a sofa bed, which he claimed was not comfortable, and took up all the space in the room We were told we had to pay to use the leisure facilities per person which was an extra charge Some.of the facilities were closed, i.e., sauna and jacuzzi so we could.only use the pool so the £30 charge we had to pay was not value for money

Fab location short walk to city centre Hotel itself food etc were excellent

I thought it was disappointing to have to pay for car parking and the wellness facilities for each visit.. on top of the price we paid for the room ! The room housekeeping was poor.. no tea /coffee etc replaced after first day , shower cosmetic bottles were empty and not replaced. It was noisy in the room with traffic and people shouting outside at all hours of the night.
