Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere is nothing negative to say other than the driveway was a little tight to reverse onto however we do drive a large car but the neighbours who share the driveway certainly left as much space as they possibly could which was great.
Fantastic location and views. True home from home tastefully decorated. Everything you could need. So relaxing we saw dear and bird life from the raised decking and enjoyed the hot tub. Excellent pub within less than 5 minutes!

United KingdomWe had an amazing stay here at Spring Cottage. Our host was very accomodating with our check in time. The welcome hamper was a nice touch and the kitchen had everything we needed. The hot tub was all ready for us which was great. There were plenty of towels and we even had robes which was nice. Spring Cottage is delightful, each room was very pleasant, the beds and pillows very comfortable and there were plenty of towels too. The views are stunning and there was plenty of outdoor space for us to dine outside. We would definately go back.

United KingdomMore locks on the bathrooms needed. Some of the blinds were too thin/too much light in the early hours.
Family group ages from 13 to 96. Double room and bathroom on the ground floor and 2 more double rooms and a jack and jill bathroom upstairs. Kids loved the hot tub. Welcome hamper was a lovely touch. Views were gorgeous, excellent location.

United KingdomIt's an old house which is wonderful in some ways but means that there are some quirks. For instance the layout is a bit odd, with one bedroom only accessible through a bathroom.
The location is wonderful, with expansive views over the countryside. It's a short walk to the local pub, shop and tea room. The house is quaint and characterful, but also surprisingly spacious, with a big living space. There is parking for one car outside. The wood burning fireplace makes it warm and cosy.

United KingdomAlthough expensively decorated some things are a little tired or broken. The windows needed a good clean. Only one old frying pan. No fizz glasses.
Wonderful location with fantastic views from the back terrace, where there is a large dining table and a great place to sit. Comfortable accommodation, with lovely bed linen. Useful hamper provided with bread, butter, milk and fizz! A home from home cottage with plenty of room in a large lounge dinner.

United KingdomMore cutlery and crockery would have saved me washing up mugs all the time! Also, the towels are a little old and rough so could do with new ones. However the pillows were really soft and new.

United KingdomA quirky layout but we loved the views, hot tub and lots of space. Emma the host went out of her way to welcome and offer help. There was also a food basket, store cupboard supplies and soap/shampoo which you don't often get with a rental.

Beautiful cottage in stunning location with stunning views. 3 comfortable bedrooms and cosy sitting room with firewood burner adds to atmosphere. Hot tub in the garden it’s another great bonus. The welcome and check in by Emma is lovely and smooth. My two children and doggie were very happy and excited to be staying in Spring Cottage and can’t wait to go back one day.

United KingdomThe only thing I would suggest is possibly fairy lights going down to the hot tub. Even it was a torch it was a little precarious.
The lovely warm welcome from Emma, the very generous hamper. The log fire making the cottage so cosy on arrival and of course the hot tub.

United KingdomSpring Cottage was in the most beautiful location. Easy stroll to the local pub which was a stunning pub with great food. The views from the back of the cottage were breathtaking and so peaceful. It was real home from home and everything there that you would need. The welcome hamper was a really lovely touch and gratefully received. The hot tub was lovely and great for at the end of the day to relax and chill with friends. Nick was extremely friendly and welcoming when he met us on arrival and answered any questions. Highly recommend Spring cottage. Thankyou for our stay!

United KingdomEmma is a brilliant host, very welcoming and friendly. The property is gorgeous, just what we wanted for our girlie weekend. The hot tub is lush and we stayed in it most of the time! Amberley itself is a delight and worth a visit to the tea rooms and the shop. Dinner at the Black Horse was nice but very hot in the pub itself and sadly the beer garden wasn't open. All in all a perfect weekend and would highly recommend.

United KingdomThe downstairs bedroom smelt of drains. Lots of spiders and cob webs. The little court yard was very mucky and not pleasant to use. Lots of blinds and curtains didn’t open. Shame there wasn’t any family games. Mats needed at all doorways. Oven gloves were dirty. Garden very overgrown preventing you from going down the steps. It looked like it needed some love and attention. Lots of near dead plants inside which make the property look shabby, old sweets in a jar on the mantle place. cutlery drawer full of crumbs. Dregs of bubble bath in a glass bottle makes it feel like your in someone else’s house. Full length mirror needed upstairs preferably in the main bedroom.
The view was amazing and the hot tub. Communication from Rustic Escapes. Micheal was very helpful and attentive. Fantastic to have the additional food items purchased for us. Good showers. The hamper was nice. The new frying pan, they’re normally unpleasant in holiday rentals. Swing seat outside was fabulous. Foil, kitchen roll and cling film available in the kitchen. Robes for the hot tub. Spare towels available. Great for dog walking.
