The room was comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was delicious! There's nothing more we would have wanted. The location is absolutely perfect, just a quite 10 minute stroll along the river out of the city centre. This is the second time we've stayed at St Mary's and we see no reason to look anywhere else on our next visit to York.

Our room was a bit small. We didn't receive the details for checking in and the code for the door because we had no WiFi that morning. It would be better to send this information sooner.

Very friendly staff, specially the lady who saw us standing outside after the checking in time and came back to let us in even though she had finished for the day. The breakfast was superb and there was plenty of choice. The guest house is very near the museum gardens, just a five minute walk.

It was a average size bedroom with a large shower room/toilet. Breakfast was full English with a variety of cereals and fruit and yogurt with plenty of toast. St Mary's is located a 10 minute walk to main attractions and shops.

Location really was amazing! So close to the downtown centre but quiet enough for a great sleep. Caroline was so lovely, truly went out of her way to make us comfortable and happy! Plus, breakfast was delicious!

Steep narrow stairs to our room.

Location good, straight from station. We were in room 10, a little difficult to get to. Stairs steep and narrow. Shower in room a little powerless. But on the whole a good clean place to stay.

The rooms need a bit of an update although they were still very clean. The bed was a metal frame so a bit squeaky and I really don't think you should have to pay additional £10 per night for parking as this should be covered in the cost of the room.

An excellent location for walking into the city centre. The staff were amazing, particularly Caroline who was lovely, funny and very helpful. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and nothing was too much trouble. Particularly loved that the tables were allocated so no stressing in the morning as to where to sit when busy. The room was a good size and parking right outside the front door was great.

Breakfast was amazing and I have to give a very special mention to Caroline aka Queen B. She made the stay!!! Nothing was too much trouble. In all the hotels and B&B’s I’ve stayed at I have never met a more friendly and helpful lady than Caroline. There’s a lovely river walk or a walk through a beautiful park to get to the town. We will definitely be back!!!
