Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo phone signal at all so when the power went off on our second day we had to drive out until we had signal to contact anyone. Turns out it was a planned power cut that day 9-3pm that we had not been advised about. Not a good cottage for anyone with mobility issues. It’s over 3 floors with bathrooms and bedrooms on top floor and bottom floor. Steps down into the cottage from parking area then stairs up to middle floor or down to bottom floor. There is a front door with no steps that goes directly into bottom floor but you have go down a steep ramp from the parking area to get to it.
Plenty of parking, outdoor seating area directly outside the cottage and another garden area across the parking area. Parking area is shared with the rest of the building which is another holiday let. My little boy loved the Juliet balcony which had open most of the time. We loved visiting the cows in the big shed next to us too

United KingdomThe directions given aren’t that clear, but once you know where you are going it’s pretty easy. Make sure you save or print the arrival instructions as there is very limited phone signal and internet in the area - so can’t do an email search on arrival 😆 (so in our case didn’t have the entry code)! We didn’t get a reply to our request for an additional night on this occasion (although we did when we stayed before) and our request for an earlier checkin was declined very quickly but what looked to be an automated message - so just a bit impersonal.
We’ve been before and it ticks all the boxes for us. Lovely remote location. Cosy and comfortable space, with all that we needed. Boot rack and coat hang on ground floor really useful. Kitchen, dining and lounge space worked really well for us and has a nice feel/is well equipped. Comfy beds

United KingdomNo potato masher. Thats all!
The setting is beautiful. If you want a base for exploring The Lakes, walking or just relaxing with wonderful views, this is the place. Nice layout, comfy beds, a warm welcome, including milk in the fridge and a jar of local gingerbread and a restful feel to the whole place. Warm, comfy and plenty of room if you're staying as a family or with friends.

United KingdomNo toilet paper in either bathroom, pleeease- surely a minimum? Despite the previous occupants advising that the bathroom light switch in the upstairs bathroom did not work, it hadn’t been fixed- I made the owners aware, but no one contacted me re repairs, so spent three nights trying to wash in the dark :(There was no bottle opener, and the frying pans need replacing, windows need a good clean. It’s a shame attention to detail would make all the difference.
located in an out of the way place, and next to a cow byre. The Barn is modern, clean and cosy

United KingdomLight in the top bathroom doesn’t work so had to use the lamp from the living room to bath our 11 month old. Door to the back of the property the lock is a bit stiff and sometimes took a while to get open.
Location is excellent. Good base for loads of walking. Comfy beds and a lovely big bath. Dog friendly.

United KingdomThe location very remote and postcode took us to another village! We contacted the Booking Office and they couldn't give any number out - they called the owner and the owner didn't answer! There was no hairdryer. The outside light in the back yard doesn't work. The lock for the backdoor is very stiff and hard to lock. The microwave had very poor power. The knob on the dishwasher fell off. Information booklet was eventually found on the kitchen block - this could do with being on the main dining table. very little TV availability. only a scant piece of soap in the bathroom (luckily I take a bar with us). Only 3 dishwasher tablets and half a dishcloth and no teatowels.
The beds! Very comfortable and clean
