Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe stayed at Glanhenwye for a family affair of 19 for ashes sprinkling in nearby Abergavenny. There was a mixture of ages spanning 4-76, plus dog. think everyone was chuffed to bits with the accommodation and location. Julie and Nick even kept the rain at bay for us as part of their supreme hosting skills. The 3 units allowed good social yet allowed people to have down time. The place surpassed expectations in every which way and we were discussing our next visit before we had left. The accommodation itself is to a high spec and has some lovely features such as visible beams and a massive table for us all the have dinner round. The games area and bbqs were greatly appreciated too. I particularly liked the record player and vinyl in each unit. Thanks for such a memorable stay.

PolandDuring our April trip the heating comes on at a certain time and on rainy days after walking around the house was cool. There were insects in the rooms at times.
The house is perfect. Large beds. Cozy rooms. A charming place for privacy in the round windows. Plenty of space for children to play hide and seek :) Place for active games, table tennis and a climbing wall. Right from the yard there are three walking routes of varying difficulty. A beautiful view from the window into the courtyard, where bunnies and pheasants run in the morning. Great internet.

United KingdomThe bed was a little restrictive as the bottom footboard meant I couldn't stretch out fully and it would have been good to have a blind available for the large round window in the bedroom but these were minor issues that didn't really cause us any major issues.
The peaceful location was very nice and the hosts were really friendly and happy to help with any queries we had. The cottage had everything we wanted and was so spacious and clean and was near to some very nice locations such as Hay on the Wye. There were some fun board games to play and we enjoyed playing table tennis and using the record player which was an interesting addition and lots of other lovely touches throughout.

United KingdomNot much to complain about, house was well equipped. Only minor gripe was the second double bed was two singles pushed together which work colleague noted. Everything else was to a very high standard.
Quiet location, lovely settings, great comms by the owner. Some well needed essentials waiting for us when we arrived. Was a work so didn't really get to explore but would have. A bit windy / inclement for table tennis but we managed the use of the BBQ. Nice bit of vinyl, TV and WiFi worked well and as we were working this was needed.

United KingdomIt's not a big deal but the locks on the doors (not the keys) were a bit difficult to turn.
The cottages were absolutely lovely and had all the facilities we could have asked for. The living space at the Owl's Roost had plenty room for our whole group of 10 to relax. The warm decor was great to come back to after a day of hiking. And the friendly cat was the cherry one top!

United KingdomWe stayed at The Stable Lad's Cottage which had a very bright lounge but not quite the views we hoped for. However, everything else more than made up for it.
The hosts came to speak to us shortly after arrival which made for a lovely welcome. They gave us a very generous Welcome Pack too and there was a list of other things like BBQ etc we coukd borrow if we wanted to. Saw them on and off over the week and they were very friendly.
