Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot too sure if the room had originally had a mirror in it but the only mirror for make up was in the hall way so no where to sit and do make up, hair.

United KingdomWould have been nice to have more room to relax in bar area, more sofa seating. Also menu was quite restrictive and did not cater for lighter choices (just had surgery) so unfortunately had to eat elsewhere. I did ask but chef unable to accommodate

United KingdomThe bed in the room wasn’t the comfiest and could do with updating. The meal in the hotel restaurant was atrocious the food is grossly overpriced and the service is abysmal not the fault of the front of house staff who have a tough job having to apologise for the lack organisation and utterly terrible food which was inedible seriously needs some investment in this area as you will get a better meal at McDonald’s avoid at all costs
Really enjoyed the visit to the spa the staff were very friendly and the customer service was good. The room was good with a good bathroom and we enjoyed drinking some pints in the lovely setting.

United KingdomRestaurant systems were not as well organised as the rest of the hotel. Disappointing amount of vegetables in main meals and scrambled eggs on toast was basic with no garnish or volume.
Manor House accommodation was excellent with lovely bedroom. Spa first rate and welcoming. Treatments high quality...special mention for Tina.

United KingdomPrior to arrival there was some delay in confirming a spa booking (comms via booking.com) and some confusion on costs - that said, when I called up it was easily sorted and prices quoted were honoured. I feel the change to the spa price for residents may put some off. Whilst we were there some of the hotel restaurant/bar staff did appear a little inexperienced and my overall opinion was that the evening service in Fred’s really did let the Hotel down a little. I wish to add this as constructively as possible, but with a view that the hotel will take the comments onboard to improve their services. We had arrived a few minutes early and there had been an issue with the till when trying to pay for drinks, so were welcomed to sit with our drinks in the lobby area. Which we were happy to do, But did sit a while, and didn’t sit at our allocated table until after our booked time, so did speak up to ask (thought perhaps we had just been forgotten). Not a massive issue, but just gave that inexperienced lack of initiative feeling as it wasn’t busy. For such a limited menu offering (which I’m not faulting as sometimes menus can be too big!) I was surprised that several items were ‘not available’ - such as fish and chips, onion rings, fries. There were also a few wines not available and also few non stocked drinks (overheard by other residents). I did also see quite a few other dishes coming out and there did seem to be a bit of a disparity in portion size, but that all items were priced much the same. For me EVERY hotel charges far too much for dessert, and it’s the very reason I hardly ever get one. These were priced around £9.50, and whilst I appreciate a mark up is necessary, I firmly believe reducing these to £5/£6 would encourage many more to purchase.
The property had a lovely striking long sweeping entrance. The welcome was exceptional at Reception and in fact all staff were pleasant and helpful. Check in was easy. The bedroom was gorgeous, nice and spacious, gorgeous bathroom and products and Robes included too. View was pleasant with rabbits in the gardens. The bath in the room was massive and everything was spotlessly clean, in fact the whole hotel was spotless and their own scent room air diffusers were amazing!! Shame you don’t sell them. We ate at Fred’s Brasserie, and having read some quite poor reviews we decided to give it a go anyway. Our personal experience was good, albeit we just grabbed a main meal and a drink and had a lovely hot fresh full English for breakfast the next day. The Spa facilities at this Hotel are what lead me to book the stay in the first place, having visited spa only before. Luxurious, tranquil, good facilities, not too big and busy, just perfect. Changing rooms are fabulous, but did decide to wander down in robes from our room (which was next door!)so made use of them afterwards. The tv in the room had various freeview channels and was a good size and we had a Nice comfy sofa in room too. I liked the fact we had a little fridge! Can be useful when travelling with kids/taking refrigerated medications etc so this was a nice touch. The lighting was relaxing too.

United KingdomThe sofa in the bedrooms are really poor quality they need changing. The TV's are very dated, no smart TV that you can get NetFlix on them, it's 2024
The breakfast itself was lovely. The staff serving definitely retraining in the restaurant for breakfast serving. This is a management issue not the staff who where two very friendly, young ladies. The issue was first day, no bread for toast, no cups for tea or coffee, no butter. Day two no cups again. They just need training to check every 30 minutes for these items every day. The restaurant was less than half full both days so these issues need addressing from management training.
