Small pots of milk in the room out of date, so curdled in tea and coffee. Best before date was Dec 2022. When going to the reception to try to get fresh ones, no one was there. Then tried again in the morning for our first cup of the day, reception all locked up and no one about.

The clients on the upper floor were able to see the interior of the room. It demanded to keep the curtain closed. Therefore, I could enjoy the sun in full.

The room was clean and comfortable. The internet connectivity was strong and we enjoyed it. The staff were friendly. They provided enough support.

The manager was abrupt and lacked people skills. The shower mixer wasn't fit for purpose, and the lights touch sent the shower from freezing cold to scolding hot? We also had Cleaner walk in even though we responded multiple times where in here

No semi skimmed milk, not a good outlook. Bar on booking. com states open till late. Both nights were closed when we returned from having our meal about 10pm Walk up a steep hill into town!!!

The lighting in the room wasn’t really sufficient, luckily I didn’t really spend time in the room other than to sleep but I imagine if I had to work from my room I would’ve struggled. The shower was a bit small and the temperature settings were very sensitive so difficult to get it to the right temperature. The room had the window open when I arrived to air the room I guess but did make the room cold and the radiator wasn’t the best so took a long time for it to heat the room.

The room was large, clean and the bed and pillows were comfy I was located on the first floor there was no sound from outside or inside and I slept well. Tea and coffee making facilities were in the room but basic which was fine for me, also a large wardrobe to hang your clothes. The parking at the back of the hotel was perfect and it only took about 10mins to walk into town. I would definitely stay again

the hotel was very adequate what it was needed for. I feel the price for 2 nights was very high compared to what else is in the area. the only bonus was the location.

Stains on bedsheets and towels were missing from the room on arrival. Smoking area located just outside (room located on ground floor) so smoke was coming in through the window

Our room was very hot and we had no control over the heating. The bed wasn't very big and the shower door didn't shut properly so the water went on the floor.

It was in a great location a short walk away from town.

The reception is shared with another hotel, acrros the street. However, it is open just 9:30am to 5pm. After that period of time, there is no one in the reception, to receive guests or to check in and you may not enter the hotel. In fact, it seems the hotel is closed.

The hotel is clean and modern, and it is close to Colchester station.

We understand supply and demand (we stayed in Colchester as we were attending a musical event in Castle Park). However, the room was extortionate! We paid £285 for the room for one night; a normal night would most probably cost two thirds less....!

The owner was extremely nice, friendly and knowledgeable.

- No lock on bathroom door - Towel radiator in bathroom leaking - Some lights not working properly - Flecks of paint and plaster and plaster dust everywhere - Stained bedding - No towels or soap provided on arrival - Need full length mirror in the room - Kitchenette but no utensils or crockery at all - Shower over bath has very poor pressure - No hot water at 8am - Hairs visible on carpet on arrival - Family room but they only provided two cups and two glasses - Told it was a quiet room but water system has resonance and feeding system must be right near to this room so there was noise every time guests in any room flushed their toilet

Location is brilliant. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. Parking is really good and they kindly allowed us to use it beyond our checkout time.
