Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNeed to be sure there are wash clothes. I called to get some and they brought me one, I then asked one of the cleaners and they didn't have any on their cart so hubby and I had to share.

United KingdomYou get what you pay for so I wasn't expecting the Ritz. My only bugbear is that you only get three hangers in the wardrobe and I now take some of my own from home which is a bit of a pain but everything else was fine
The location is great for business or pleasure, Covent Garden behind the hotel and a shortish walk to the Embankment from the front of the hotel. An easy walk to Charing Cross for the tube. Breakfast was varied and good, plenty of choice. The staff were polite, helpful and friendly. I have stayed at this hotel before so I knew what to expect, I will stay here again

United StatesThis was my second stay at the Strand and was looking forward to my second time especially for those days when I want a break and to order room service. Room service the first time around was exceptional several months ago - chef made dishes. Now the menu changed and is similar to that of a kebab shop. We ordered chips and we got a container of styrofoam that was clearly nuked in the microwave and badly melted. I sent it back - refusing to let my child eat it. This is such a departure from the classy menu they had previously. I spoke to management who said they now contracted out room service. Honestly the menu had nothing to desire on it. This is sad as I had a memorable meal previously via room service so memorable that I booked their hotel again. You are in the heart of London with plenty of restaurants around but for people with children, young children especially it was highly inconvenient.
The property is perfectly situated in London - in walking distance you have the Covent Garden Market and across the street the infamous “Savoy” which has a great afternoon tea. The breakfast was great.

United KingdomReception staff were dreadful Apparently our booking through booking.com (and all paid up front before arrival as seen in my account!) did not align with the hotel system. I was made to feel very ‘wrong’ until I produced the email from Strand Palace welcoming me with correct details. But still the reception staff told me ‘ I was wrong’. I felt like a ‘criminal’ and was deeply upset. Wrong rooms were given to family who arrived at different times. We were invited to Buckingham Palace for presentation of an award and tea with Prince Edward which we had been obviously very excited and proud about. Unfortunately my daughter left her phone in her room but her key card ( which she had been given by the hotel) was the wrong room card. She was unable to get into her room. She is 23 and her phone is part of her life also with a camera. She was unable to get this. She does now not have photos of her special event due to The Strand Palace Hotel reception who would not give her a key. She was tearful and upset…….. I was very very disappointed for her. I too was upset…… To say I am furious with the hotel …. On return from the event we again had Reception room key issues! Still the hotel system was wrong. We were told to contact Booking.com and we did who were more than helpful and liaised with Strand Palace who after that were pleasant to my daughter I was too tearful to speak to Reception after that. Would I return to Strand Palace Hotel again. Well I would like to but their reception staff have left a very unpleasant mark on me. I have stayed before and live everything about it. The rooms are a bit of a walk and I have just recovered from knee replacement surgery so I found having to keep going back to reception when our issued keys didn’t work also very annoying. If the hotel is affiliated with booking.com why do the systems not align. I am also a hotel member but when I contacted you direct the ‘only few rooms available for our dates’ were £131.00 more.

I enjoyed every moment of my stay at the Palace. The location was convenient to everything walking or public transportation. The size was comfortable not overwhelming. The food was very good. The Gin Palace was the perfect spot for the gin and tonic. The staff made me feel extra special and wanted to make sure I got what I wanted. My room was a small bedroom with a most comfortable bed. The bathroom was lovely with nice products for my hair and shower.
