How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We had a wedding to attend and needed somewhere to change after travelling. Our room was prepared earlier than check in- no trouble at all. Everything was excellent, will be returning.

The lovely lady on reception was so friendly and attentive - she is a credit to the hotel. The location and breakfast were also great. Our room was good value for money and we'd definitely recommend it.

The lift was out of order and we weren’t notified as I had messaged the property prior to our stay as my 86 year old mother has medical issues. We were staying as had an appointment at The Brompton Hospital which I had notified them about. The wooden flooring caused a lot of noise from other guests, echo and doors slamming.
Welcoming staff. Clean rooms. Convenient.

Our room was small for two people. We could barely open our suitcases. Also the lift was broken when we were there.
The location was great and close to the tube. The breakfast was delicious.

Very comfortable room with everything you need. Bed very comfortable. Location central and close to everything in South Kensington and Chelsea. Breakfast was excellent - a good choice and food intolerances catered for without a problem. Reception staff were excellent, very welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We will return.

Unfortunately the lift was out of order so we were unable to have the room originally allocated as a quiet room.
Staff were so friendly and helpful especially Hanneen. She was very helpful when arranging a room for us due to the lift being out of order showing us different options which was appreciated . She is a real asset to a Sydney House hotel.

I had to report foul smell in room and corridor on return from theatre. Maybe just a burst pipe somewhere in the house. Smell Was gone next morning.

Had a step (different level) in bedroom to access bathroom which was a bit worrisome as trip hazard
Location was great - picked because of easy access to places on our itinerary, central to all within 5 mins. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast exceptional

Absolutely spotless and so central, had breakfast too which was delicious. The staff on shift were extremely friendly, helpful and allowed me to stay in the lobby for a few hours after checkout to study, even had a coffee.

For a deluxe double at he price charged, the room and bathroom were very small. Could barely stand up straight in the bathroom. Handheld shower was a bit basic as well. Tiny lift only held one person.
Great location near South Ken tube station and shops. Excellent, friendly staff provided a warm welcome.

Some breakfast items not available on Monday. Some strange noises during the night on Sunday. Staff investigated and found nothing. Problem not repeated.
Room and bed large and comfortable. Breakfast tasty and ample. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good, generally quiet location.

Room on the small side but not an issue.
Quiet room.Upgraded on arrival. Balcony for nicer weather. Proximity to Kings Rd. Very comfy bed! Power shower.

I think some of the rooms are a little small. (Have stayed x2). They are double rooms but not a lot of space around them eg rm 22 is quite small, but has a small balcony with a table and chairs, OK in Summer but useless in Winter. Rm 21 is a little larger. Room was clean but landing wasn't hoovered for several days, you could see some dried mud on it. Don't like having to order fresh milk when I want to make a hot drink. We ordered some for the following morning but didn't arrive. Consider options: flask of fresh milk/sachets of UHT (room too small for a mini fridge I should think)
