Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe help yourself breakfast was extremely disappointing to say the least .It was the only negative of the Tay House experience. If I'm honest for that money I don't want to make my own breakfast and if I did I would want standard ,sausages ,bacon etc to go with the eggs and salmon provided.
Tay house is a beautiful property in the most perfect of locations .The rooms were well appointed and the decor of the house was exceptional .We were let in by the receptionist who was so pleasant and very helpful and made us so welcome .

AustraliaThis should be an adult only property!!! There was a family who allowed their children to run throughout the building uncontrolled with totall disregard for other guests. Family left little fresh produce for other guests plus left a trail of breakfast food, packaging across the kitchen, dinning room, and reception area. Where they also left magazine's strewn across the floor. We had to pick these up so we could eat in the reception. Had the family not been staying here this accommodation would have been idyllic.
Beautiful, well appointed accomodation in superb location with parking for guests. Property has been renovated, rebuilt to a high standard. Self-service breakfast - fresh food left in fridge daily.

United KingdomThere was nothing I didn’t like to be honest (price could’ve been negotiated for a solo traveler possibly?)
Tay House is a really lovely place to stay. A lot of thought and detail has been put into the renovation to a high standard. Adequate parking, gated, just across the road. The bedroom I had was one of the smaller rooms but perfect for just me as was the bathroom (a bit of a squeeze if they’re were 2 of you but the other rooms are all of a very reasonable size). I particularly liked the relaxed arrangement for breakfast for the kitchen and you can access the kitchen 24 hrs. There was a plentiful supply of teas, coffee, muffins, bread etc and the fridge had milk, fruit juices, smoked salmon, yogurts and jams etc. Maybe some sliced cheese and cold meats for breakfast too? I nipped out to get some eggs and made a quick scrambled eggs to have with the already supplied smoked salmon and coffee. My only slight criticism would be that I still had to pay £200/night for a solo traveler, however on saying that I would be very happy to return to Tay House.

United KingdomBreakfast was varied and lots of great options. What would have made it perfect was if the pastries and bread were from the lovely bakeries in Dunkeld rather than shop bought/packaged but that's quite picky (and also might have been because it was off season and not many of us staying).
Staff were great and very helpful and communicative. Rooms are beautifully styled and really comfy, we enjoyed not having a TV! The parking was really handy too. Generous selection of drinks available. We really enjoyed the local produce available for the breakfast

United KingdomA great stay at The Tay House in early November 2022. It was quiet at that time of year with only one other family staying. Felicity on reception was great and very helpful. Hopefully we will be back soon and will probably pay for one of the bigger rooms.

United KingdomBreakfast was perfunctory - pretty basic. The house decor (shooting and fishing theme) was enjoyably and interestingly quirky, but seemed to lack anywhere well lit enough for reading. Also the kitchen bins had not been emptied for some time.
Bedroom and bathroom were very good. House location was very central, convenient for shops, restaurants, river walks. Garden furniture on decking beside river was appreciated too.
