We would happily use this place again. Blackout curtains would have helped me, as our room was not completely dark over night. The Telstar carpark is also a tight fit, but it was fine for our small car.

The location was perfect for us, the room was comfortable and I loved the little stack of old style suitcases, the top one was actually a record player. The staff we met were all friendly and helpful. There is a cute courtyard in the centre and other quirky decorations here and there. We didn't have breakfast but wished we had booked it as it looked good. We could smell bacon when we woke up!

The Hotel is quite close to the station but requires a walk up a steep hill to get there. It is also a fair (but pleasant) walk to the University, if one is visiting there.

We were surprised to find that the Telstar is in an old house - and has been going for years! It was homely, clean and comfortable and the breakfast was generous and delicious.

The room decor was a bit dated. The towels were rather small and worn, and we had to ask for an extra one as there weren’t enough for 2 people (the extra one was lovely and fluffy!)

The room was lean and comfortable; we were able to get a very nice bottle of wine from reception; the staff were friendly & helpful; and the breakfast was excellent.

The room was a little small but as we were out most of the day this wasn't an issue for us. And the bathroom is a bit of a squeeze but again not an issue for us, but could be for those less mobile or larger!

The location for getting into the center of Exeter was fantastic, a short 10 minute walk with a fabulous bakery (The Exploding Bakery) along the way. The free parking, although a little tight to get round the corner, was excellent. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Scrummy breakfast, and plenty of choice.

For its Star Rating, the Telstar is better than most, but we felt there was room for improvement.

The croissants were stale and the presentation of the breakfast was a little poor and unappetising. Creaky beds and mattresses not so good. No solid bar of soap. Too much emphasis on conservation.

We loved the courtyard, especially the tiles on the floor but more could have been done by adding flowering plants. The room was fine. The historical items gave interest and were enjoyable to look at. We welcomed the fact that the place was fully licensed but it would be greatly improved if light meals and snacks and pastries were offered. We were very pleased that it was pet friendly even though we didn’t have a pet. All in all, a good night’s stay and we would book it again.

The staff were friendly, the breakfast was good and the hotel was the first one I have stayed in for a loing while which didnt charge ripoff rates. It means I will be back next time I travel tio the West Country
