How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The only downside, which was out of the hotel's control, was the traffic. it was due to roadworks & a gas leak.. one evening it took us half an hour to go 1 mile.
All the staff were really friendly, especially surprising us with swan shaped towels with petals on the bed. Breakfast was excellent with a brilliant choice of either continental or full English. The swimming pool was great too.

Sits on a busy road, luckily I had ear plugs and room was a little dated.
Gorgeous pool, staff so accommodating, great mattress and the place was spotless.

The bed was a bit creaky and uncomfortable. Felt like it was tilted to one side. Would have been better if the room had a fan. We felt suffocating around midnight as we couldn't open the windows too as our room was in ground floor opposite to the property gate. Just a suggestion.
Friendly staff. Great breakfast options especially for vegetarians like us. Nice Jacuzzi bath tub. Cozy room.

Our room faced onto the very busy main road, and due to the October humidity/heat we really had to open the windows, which made it noisy in the morning. Very early wake ups for me (light sleeper!)
A lovely hotel, with excellent and friendly staff. Our room was well equipped, and we had a really nice afternoon swim one day of our stay. There's a lovely private outdoor space for relaxing in. Really good breakfast buffet as well, lots of choice.

The TV was not functioning on the first night of our stay. This was an issue for one person in our group. The toilet door would not close.
Service: a special thank you to Radu! Breakfast: copious, healthy + good variety Pool: I chose this hotel because of the pool and was not disappointed 😊

Bed sheets had a funny damp smell and bed was slightly uneven making it not so comfortable to sleep(It was a double bed with I think two single mattresses). no bathrobe or slippers available on site as stated on website.
Swimming pool was a perk, location was good-close to city centre, breakfast was nice , staff were lovely and accommodating, parking available on site, nice garden space .

The room has no temperature control and so was very warm, but it was an unseasonably warm week in the UK.
The room was perfectly clean and the bed was huge, and really comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful, especially the lovely man who made a little breakfast up for our dog! Breakfast was amazing, all foods and drinks you could wish for were on offer and it was excellent quality.

There is no overhead shower - shower head in the bath is poor. No mini fridge.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Clean facilities and good value for money.

Could have been more hooks to hang towels on.
Very good sized family room with plenty of room for our greyhound to sleep. Breakfast was very good and the dog was allowed in part of the restaurant which made life easier. You could also sit in the garden to eat if you preferred. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Parking area was small and was on a first come first serve basis but there was nearby parking at a price.

The location was very convenient to walk into Canterbury but the down side is limited parking and busy , nosy road.
Lovely to have the pool and friendly, efficient staff and all dog friendly .

Just two minor things. The pillows are a bit on the firm side for me. The stool needs removing as the material is covered in dirt stains.
My second stay here due to train strikes and having tickets for a show at the Marlowe. As before room and bathroom are are good size. Very quiet, with just a little road noise, but then I always have the window open when sleeping. Breakfast is excellent. The staff are great and welcoming.
