No fruit on the breakfast menu. However, I have no other criticisms.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The character of the hotel and condition were excellent and important historically. The room was beautiful and the bathroom was up to the best international standard. I had one of the best dinners I had experienced in years.

We had requested a ground floor room with a dog bowl when we booked a few weeks in advance. However, we were given a 2nd floor room with a tiny bowl (about the size of a mug!) which didn't suit our needs.

The staff were all very welcoming and friendly, and the furnishings (including the 4 poster bed!) were very comfortable- and all at a very reasonable price!

The temperature in the top floor rooms, the last three stays, has been very hot and uncomfortable. The fans aren’t the best, and there’s not much air to circulate in a grade listed property. The room, the last time I stayed, smelt like the former guest which wasn’t great. But, I do love the hotel and I’ll continue to stay! But, buy some decent fans for the summer months and open that window well in advance of the next guest staying.

I stay here quite regularly for work and I’m never disappointed. The new owners have invested and that investment is slowing making its way throughout the hotel. The ground floor facilities are superb. The rooms are well decorated and the beds comfortable.

Although our room was spacious with the most comfortable bed there were scuff marks on the doors and walls. A spot light was hanging down from the ceiling and no slip mat was provided in the shower. I nearly slipped over twice.

Very little to dislike. The full English breakfast is good and filling, coffee and fruit juice too. The only criticism is the time taken. There was only one waitress, and she was unable to cope with taking orders and serving tables. Most people waited 10-15 minutes to order food and drinks and around 20 minutes for the order to be served. You could see people were becoming impatient. The waitress was, however, excellent and unfazed with the situation. I would assume it was down to staffing issues.

It is a lovely hotel with a great history. It isn't 5 stars, but neither is the price. The staff are helpful, polite, and efficient. The location is central, and so everything's within easy walking distance.

Our room was right on the top floor and despite the weather outside being quite warm but not unbearable, our bedroom turned into a sauna and no amount of fans could help it. That meant a sleepless night and sadly spoiled our stay there. You can definitely feel the age of this building with tired bathroom appliances, some of them needing some further maintenance. The room was relatively clean although the first impressions were spoiled when we found a dirty glass in the bathroom (full of toothpaste marks), a half eaten biscuit and some wrappers on the floor. The stay didn't exceed our expectations but we were not disappointed neither.

Lovely place, intriguing and full of history. The staff both at the reception and the restaurant/bar were lovely. The food (dinner and breakfast) was delicious! The coctails in the bar, were very reasonably priced and yummy! I loved the decor in the bar and lobby. The car park is close to the hotel and very reasonably priced.

service in the restaurant was too leisurely for me, probably fine if you're with colleagues or friends but sitting on my own, spending an hour to have breakfast ( which required the cooking of 2 eggs ) was tedious, so I didn't eat there again would be nice to have a desk suitable for a laptop

quiet, clean comfortable and right in the middle of town, very spacious room and nicely decorated and furnished helpful, friendly staff

That we could not eat in the upstairs banquet hall room on our stay on the Sunday or Monday due to another hall booking, so disappointing.

Staff friendly and accommodating on service. Sunday roast lunch was very good on pricing and portions. Breakfast was good but a little pricey. Pleasant outside seating area.

Check in at reception didn't seem to know tourist areas to visit around Grantham. Which would be helpful to tourists

Both the hotel Staff and restaurant staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, the service although it was busy, they know how to cope under pressure, the atmosphere was chilled just fantastic!!
