How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Location is perfect. The staff are very friendly and exceptionally helpful. My room was lovely and the toiletries smell fantastic. It’s a very good comfortable hotel in an excellent location. Having parking available is a real bonus.

The bathroom was a little tired and the bathroom sink didn't empty very quickly. The shower could have done with a steam clean especially in the corners. There are lots of stairs which didn't bother us but they might not be for everyone. Didn't notice if there were any rooms on the ground floor.
The property has an excellent location and the reception staff were very friendly. Large car park onsite and the breakfast was excellent. The room had all the facilities that you needed.

I have no grumbles other than it could have been emphasised how much important info there was in the welcome letter eg the WiFi password. Also a list of TV stations would have been useful.
Very comfortable room, quiet and well proportioned. Excellent breakfast with wonderful service. Very efficient and friendly reception staff also.

There was nothing I disliked.
Our room was a superior deluxe room and very comfortable and spacious . Very well furnished and a good size bathroom with an excellent bath and shower cubicle. Good snacks and hot drinks( hot chocolate was very good) Good choice of food for breakfast and staff very attentive.

Nothing at all was amiss.
From the very warm greeting and booking in process to final check out - such service. Our spacious room was warm, large, well decorated with a very clean and spacious bathroom. The public rooms are very inviting and breakfast was excellent, (loved the "Virgin Mary) I ordered "eggs royale" with the eggs being cooked to perfection, the waiter could not do enough to make sure I enjoyed everything. I congratulate all of the staff on providing such a warm, friendly, inviting hotel, from taking our bags and showing us to our room to offering to do the same in the pouring rain at our check out. (I declined with thanks as no need for three of us to get soaked) We shall certainly stay there again.

A great hotel. Like it all. Listed building presumably. Built on different levels so prospective guests with mobility problems should talk to Reception staff.
Very attentive and friendly staff, welcoming. Bedrooms well appointed. Good breakfast. Hotel is just across the road from the theatre.

Rooms are fine but require an upgrade, bar prices are high.
Excellent staff, plenty of parking and great location for restaurants. Theatre just across the road, breakfast a very good standard. Nice bar area and restaurant. Comfortable beds and pillows.

The room was very hot (it is winter) so we opened the window to let fresh air into the room. Otherwise brilliant.
The location was fantastic and parking was available. The hotel was clean and pleasant. The staff were helpful and polite at all times.

Check In staff were not helpful when I questioned my booking for breakfast which I thought that I had not made. Indeed they were actually dismissive in saying that I didn't have to eat it which reassured me that forced feeding was not being practised. I received a generic letter which assured me that the money would not be charged to my card until the day of the booking which was not the case as I had booked through Booking.com. It was also disappointing to find that, as a returning customer, I could have received a better rate by booking directly.

It really could not have been a nicer experience.
I had asked for a quiet room and got one, but it was also spacious, well furnished and attractive. Staff kindly carried my bag to my room when it was ready (the Arden occupies an old building, so halls are long and stairs part of any journey, unless one uses the lift for mobility reasons). I was visiting Straford in order to go to the theatre, and no hotel is closer to the Royal Shakespeare Company's theatres than this one. I had an excellent breakfast in the attractive restaurant before departing. The restaurant staff were as friendly and attentive as the desk staff. I would be delighted to stay at the Arden on my next journey to Stratford.

Wasn't made obvious at booking that restaurant closed Sunday evening and all day Monday. Also I only realised afterwards service charge paid when leaving was actually optional.
Extremely comfortable room and bed. Location excellent especially for theatre. Breakfast was very good.
