How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The evening meal on booking a table in advance wasn't up to out expectations to be honest. The starter was very good and we chose a main from their specials menu, which was very disappointing and we were only asked how the food was at the end of our meal rather than during, so that we couldnt let them know our disappointment. The Tikka salmon was served with flat bread, bowl of rice, bowl of chunky chips and I was hoping for a bit if salad to accompany the salmon as it is served normally in an Indian restaurant. Being someone who does not really eat a lot of carbs and eats mostly salads and veg with meat or fish, I was very disappointed, but admit it did not say it came with salad but assumed they would put something green on the plate other than one leaf of coriander. This was one of the most expensive meals on the specials menu and was definitely not good value for money. Also my partner was not really keen on the flavour of his strips of rump steak sizzler and again no one came to check if everything was okay with our meal. We were asked if everything had been okay when picking up the plates and expressed our disappointment with the meals and were told they would inform the kitchen. The cooked breakfast in the morning wasn't especially good, only scrambled egg on offer and the bacon was dry and tough and again we were not asked if everything was okay in starting our food as is the norm in most restaurants we have used recently. Overall the food we had was a little disappointing.
The room was very comfortable and we were allocated a quieter area of hotel, on booking, as it being a wedding venue, which was very much appreciated.

Location not that far out. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was good and breakfast was also good.Room very nice for what we needed and very clean. Onsite parking as well. No complaints at all

An electric kettle would have been handy for boiling water.
The apartment is cozy, quiet & clean. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was hot with plenty of pressure. Lots of attention to detail in the apartment & shared kitchen.

We had a wonderful stay although the following need to be added. Baby changing downstairs Light above mirror in bedrooms and direct phone line to reception. Our family meal was rushed and not given time to digest starter before main meal came out. We had to request additional time to digest main meal. Meal was good. Although pork crackling was way too soft and lamb very fatty.
Breakfast was good. All staff and cleanliness are excellent. Building is decorated and interior is wonderful.

The only wee niggle was that the heating in the bedroom and bathroom were not working. It was quite cold!
We booked The Barns as an overnight stop on our way back home from a holiday in Somerset, it was clean and comfy. The staff we came across were all really friendly and welcoming. The food was very good and the breakfasts were plentiful, I think I had a side of salmon with my eggs!

the location was perfect for where we wanted to go. Close to Cannock town. The room was big and spotlessly clean. The shower was gorgeous and lovely big fluffy white towels. Breakfas was yummy! Car park was free and felt safe.

Reception staff were absolutely miserable. We arrived 13th April in the evening and the woman could not for the life of her crack a smile, she didn’t even greet us it was like pulling blood from a stone. The lady the next morning was a bit nicer at least.
Property was beautiful, lovely location. Room was comfy especially the bed and the bath was really nice!

Wasn't anything not to like.
Attended a Family Wedding, the whole experience was lovely.staff polite and informative, room was clean, facilities good. Breakfast and parking included. An enjoyable two days stay.
