The property is suffering from lack of investment and our room and bathroom were very tired. The staff are lovely but there’s not enough of them to really give the service a hotel of this calibre.

We love staying at Bartley Lodge as it’s a small cosy hotel with great staff and very well located for the New Forest. Dinner quality was great. Breakfast is lovely but could have a bit more variety.

Sadly our shower looked impressive but we were unable to stabilise the temperature and therefore it was difficult to shower safely as it was scalding.

The location was stunning and our room was spacious and luxurious.

Very small room. Very thin walls as able to hear next-door neighbours. No advance warning to book early for dinner. Disappointed the restaurant was fully booked for both the nights I was there. The driveway was in dire need of fixing as full of potholes and could damage vehicles. Cold water out of hot tap in the mornings, no matter how long I left it to run.

    Beautiful surroundings. Lovely old building.

The room was however very very small, as was the en suite. Although i had asked for a shower because of my Dads knees and issues with getting into a bath, it was so small that im not sure it improved things! The room and bed were so small that there was little room to get along the side of the bed. My mum said it really should be marketed as a large single not a small double. Sadly the breakfast was also a little disappointing. This was a gift for my Mums 70th birthday and i feel it was, overall a disappointing stay. It was a lot of money for us to find and i dont think represented good value at all. I will reiterate that the staff were clearly fantastic and this is not to be overlooked.

The staff were really friendly and my parents commented how helpful and polite they were.

Lack of staff, one particular gentleman was extremely rude and disinterested. Rooms a little tired, no hot water on 2nd day. Bed was a twin pushed together with different mattresses so abit lumpy. Plenty of lounge room, would be great if utilised better, gym/Spa etc.

Lovely location, perfect for walks and visiting the new forest.

The bed and pillows were quite soft, so we didn't have the best nights sleep. The shower also ran cold and didn't seem to warm up. We did have a booking at the restaurant, but arrived too late as they stopped serving at 6.45pm.

The room was on the top floor and incredibly spacious. We didn't originally book for breakfast, but added it on when we checked in - it was a good buffet selection of hot and cold food. The location is also great - a 10min drive from the main high street in Lyndhurst, but situated off the main road in a quiet area.

The swimming pool isn’t always open, so maybe phone ahead and check if that’s important to you. The breakfast is typical of a hotel buffet and cooked breakfast but I wouldn’t recommend the coffee.

I like the old Manor House appearance and the grounds. The rooms are comfortable and everything you need is provided. The decor is reasonably modern and clean. It is more reasonably priced in the new forest area, which can be an expensive place to stay. I would stay here again. I imagine people have wedding receptions here.

I think that for the price of the hotel the tea tray could have been slightly better stocked, and also the little products available in the bathroom could be better thought through. We had 4 shampoos, two varieties, but surely a 2 and 2 conditioners would be better? It was also very hot in our room.

The staff on reception were really helpful. The room was large and comfy, the bathroom was a little tight but nice powerful shower. We appreciated the extra bed for our toddler. The view to the garden was beautiful and we could see the ponies in the field! Dinner was delicious, breakfast was good. The swimming pool was a lovely bonus. Super clean and quiet, we loved it!

The room and bathroom needed a repaint and a thorough clean, especially the radiator below the window in the bedroom which was coated with layers of dust and dog hair. Unfortunately the swimming pool was not available to use either which was disappointing.

It was a beautiful period building, decorated tastefully, with a lovely garden.

A few issues; the beds were terrible, like sleeping on a sponge. I had bad back after two nights. We did ask to move rooms, but the beds were the same in the one we were offered. There's no bar / light snacks menu, your only option is the full restaurant service in the evening. The breakfast was underwhelming with limited choice. There aren't really proper changing rooms for the pool, just a toilet space adjoining, so in busy times you would have to wait to get changed. Otherwise, nice location and could be great with some improvements!

The building is lovely, and the staff are good. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The room was clean.

The pool was crazy small. It’s more like an oversized bathtub, so we decided not to bother as it was packed with people, and looked rather uninviting. Our room was very cramped for the price (£123 per night) and had a tiny shower room built into the corner of the room. The shower cubicle itself was so small we had to shower with the glass door open. The bed was also tiny- more like a large single than a double! Lastly we thought the dining area was pretty unclean. We only ate breakfast here but there were chips and potato and serviettes on the floor from the previous night’s service. We also asked for 2 pots of coffee but only got one and gave up as we had to dash off for an event.

Nice building and gardens with lots of potential to be better. Friendly staff who seemed cheerful and helpful. Fantastic pub within 10 mins walk from the hotel, The White Hart, which did great food and is definitely worth a visit!

Our room (33) for our 2&5 year old had bunk beds despite a note to say we wanted put up beds. When we asked the young man on reception he said. ‘Oh yes we saw the note, didn’t know what it meant so just put a cot in your room’. We therefore had our 2 years in the bed with us that night. We had to ask again the following day at which point, after our day out, there was a bed placed in our room. Very under staffed for a bank holiday. About 3 hangers in wardrobe, fridge would benefit a family with children. The breakfast was lacking fresh fruit, just a bowl of melon but was ok generally. The hotel is lacking some atmosphere and has potential to be a wonderful hotel but at present it is missing that special spark and compared to other hotel of a similar style I would say this isn’t up there in terms of quality and was more expensive than others we have stayed in which have better facilities, staff and atmosphere.

Hotel itself was clean, the pool was nice for the kids but only 3 chairs around the pool area so it would benefit from some more seating or area to place belongings. Dinner was good quality. Room 33 - Our bathroom was clean and water pressure good (I had seen comments about this). TV was good and had all the channels we needed.

Room was dated and needed decorating signs of flaking on the ceiling , bed uncomfortable 2 singles pushed together. Could hear other people in rooms so up when they was up. Dinner wasn't great we had Rib eye steak was full of fat was more like rump but this was taken off of the bill and they was very nice staff in the restaurant If it wasn't for the kids enjoying the pool would have been disappointed for the over £250 spent and sooner drove home to save the money.

The lack of available evening bar snacks and room service! It’s one thing that we look for when staying at a hotel. This hotel did not have this facility.

The beds in our room were firm which made for a fantastic nights sleep for us. Hot shower and breakfast was delicious. The pool was quiet in the mornings and evenings which the children loved!
