Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe removal of a lounge area (from previous visits) paying extra for parking. Would have been good to have a copy of the dinner menu put in the room daily (not on a clipboard in reception) I had booked a larger corner room with two windows as per the photo but did not get that. The white sliced bread for toast was cheap and it showed.
Breakfast was just OK, would liked to see some watermelon and fresh pineapple. Better quality (sliced white) bread for toasting. Coffee was hot and miss, some days hot some just lukewarm..

United KingdomWe booked double room with sea view, but the room we get was not like the pictures showed. We were too tired to argue about that just took it. No free parking as well have to park our car across the road with 10 pounds overnight fee.

United KingdomThe main door is locked at 9.30-10pm and there are instructions to get in with an electronic key fob but our key didn’t have one so we had to ring the number to ask someone to let us in which felt like we were disturbing someone. They were very polite and in no way made it feel like it was an annoyance, that’s just how I felt. luckily some other guests were going out and let us in so I don’t know how long we might have waited but I’m sure it would not have been long?! Also it would be really helpful to have breakfast times in the room as I completely forgot what the receptionist said (my fault I know :) )
Great Location on the seafront next to a reasonably priced car-park. The room was very comfortable and clean and looked like it had recently been redecorated. It was very reasonably priced including a very delicious breakfast which they agreed to cook for us despite us being a bit late down for breakfast- they couldn’t do enough for us and made us feel very welcome.

United KingdomWe were last minute moved from The Bleah Club to another hotel, The Hotel Penzance (so my ratings and comments is for the Penzance hotel). It was way tucked on top of a Hill ( nightmare to walk with no car), very close to the train station. The heating was not working, they managed to get room heating working but the bathroom radiator was cold as ice and the flooring too!!! No slippers provided for this inconvenience.
It was a beautiful cosy hotel and nice helpful staff.

United KingdomBreakfast wasn't included in the price because, I think, the catering was outsourced. Dinner was excellent, but a limited menu. Parking was extra, but undercover and secure.
Our room was excellent, large, comfortable with a sea view. Complementary tea/coffee and snacks were good too.

United KingdomLocation, whilst on the seafront, can be a problem if you are facing the main road as lorries from the nearby Newlyn harbour pass through the night. Room was well heated so trying to balance temperature, fresh air and traffic noise was, for us, a challenge. That said, the view was impressive. Probably due to the season, but the front door is locked from 9pm and there was no hotel bar service although had we chosen to eat in the hotel I'm sure that would not have been a problem.
Great welcome at the hotel reception, offered a glass of procecco while we checked in. This is a beautiful hotel, tastefully and imaginatively decorated with comfortable, if somewhat hot, rooms. Easy walking along the promenade to harbourside pubs and restaurants and on street parking was available close to the property. Breakfast was excellent, great menu and satisfactory buffet. I think this would be a great option when the sun is shining and there are more people around.
