How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The only problem was with the toilet cistern not working on occasion. Required serveral attempts to make work correctly.
All staff were cheerful and provided a professional service. The breakfast was outstanding. The location suited our travels perfectly and the value was great. The evening meal was first class, compliments to the chef and wait staff.

The furnishings were rather dated and dull, however, it didn't affect the comfort.
Convenient to Altnagelvin Hospital. Well signposted, easy parking. Welcoming and helpful staff at the Belfray. Room to suit provided. Most comfortable bed and pillows. Very quiet at night, the best sleep ever away from home. Excellent breakfast. Good Bistro menu available. Pleasant walk nearby with views over the countryside.

The room was a little warmer than usual but I’m a big guy so for the common person it would have been nice.
Lovely, peaceful and in a nice area. They let me check in very early after arriving in Ireland in the morning.

Greeted by the friendliest receptionist ever and it just got better from there , had a slap up carvery meal , and a few lovely pints with very attentive staff , the room was a little dated but very charming , I would have no hesitation returning here as the atmosphere , staff and food was excellent and a joy to behold , plenty of free parking , we will be back

The only criticism would be in relation to the lift, which was very small and antiquated.
The hotel was very homely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our breakfasts and the entertainment in the bar area.

Booking confirmation said we'd have a room with a view and we were looking at a wall.The recepionist was brilliant and got us moved. He hadn't allocated the room. Explained drawback of the room he moved us to but it wasn't an issue for us. It was our third time staying there Food is usually really good, but slight issues with our evening meal on Saturday night ,(took ages) and then at breakfast the next day they had major problems with their gas supply which probably didn't look so good to people who were there for their first time. But we had never encountered that on our previous stays. (And I have just made a further booking).

Beds was a bit too soft for us, but it is a matter of personal preferences. Can't fault anything else at all.
Amazing little hotel in a very quite spot, but still very close to city centre. Comfy rooms, with nice selection of coffee, tea ( they had Barrys!:) and hot chocolate, also bottles of water, which was a really nice touch. Staff was nothing short of fantastic, very attentive and helpful. Food in the restaurant on site was very nice (we had dinner) and breakfast in the morning had a great selection. Will 100 percent stay again when in Derry next.

It’s a little far to walk into Derry but if you have a car, it’s fine!
The food is delicious and staff are outstanding. They couldn’t be more attentive and considerate.

Slippers/Flip flops for bathrooms and quick walk around the place would be a perfect addition and amenity.
The rooms are big and very luxurious. Felt much better than big 5 star hotels.
