The lady on reception was so lovely and welcoming, giving us lots of evening meal recommendations. The staff at our evening meal were also lovely and the breakfast and evening meal were amazing! Checked out with a lady who was cleaning, and she was so efficient and made the process easy.

Jill and all her staff where very friendly and welcoming with great communication/helpfulness throughout my stay. Beautiful well presented/clean room with great facilities right in the heart of Pickering centre itself with all that offers. Secure parking at the rear was a delight to use and most welcome to store my car. Great well cooked breakfast on both mornings I stayed served with a welcoming smile and absolutely wonderful Italian restaurant (Figaro's) on the opposite side of a small village square was superb for my evening meal. Many thanks for providing such a great stay.

We loved the Black Swan! The service was outstanding. I travelled every week for work before covid and I have seldom had better service anywhere in the world I've been. Definitely the best service I've had in any hotel in the UK. I have mobility issues and while the Swan has no lift the staff couldn't do enough to help with bags etc., Good free parking behind the pub with plenty of parking spots. Breakfast was very good, best I've had in a while. The only drawback was dinner was not as good as the breakfast. Bar staff are very friendly. Lots of locals come in so you know it's good. The location is perfect with a short walk to any shops and to Pickering station (NYMR). We plan on coming back later in the year.

Not self service, but this was not a problem. Very varied selection and service by mine host was excellent. All the choices you expect up to a full English. Our tasty breakfasts were superb on both days.

Nothing really. The only thing was evening meals were unavailable due to refurbishment but that was not the fault of the hotel. It didn't cause us a problem.

The location was excellent. Also the home brewed beer was exceptional. Staff were very helpful and pleasant and the rooms comfortable and clean. Would definitely return.

There was nothing we didn't like, everything was great from start to finish. There are a lot of stairs to some rooms, which some might find awkward, but all adds to the character of the beautiful old building.

Perfect location 👌 Excellent staff and service throughout our stay. Breakfast was gorgeous, sooo tasty and very well presented. Room was spotlessly clean, bathroom was spotless too, really comfy bed, cute little comfy sofa, well stocked hospitality tray with hot chocolate and coffee bags and a mini bar too. (We didn't use the mini bar but it was really well priced and not too expensive). A beautiful quaint and homely place to stay, would definitely recommend it and if we have a break away in the area again we would most likely stay here again.

The location. Loved every bit of the holiday. Cannot find a fault with the Black Sean. We loved our time there and the staff were excellent. We will be back again for sure.
