Good local friendly pub atmosphere , with an area where could watch football without disturbing other patrons. Extremely friendly and helpful landlords Tim and Tony who made me feel very welcome and part of the community! Great food, beer and fascilities.

Lovely little family run pub. Nice location parking is behind the pub a little tricky to initially get to but once I knew where it was it was super easy. Staff were really friendly and the food is amazing!! Lovely breakfast with choice of cold food or hot or both! I had an evening meal there and the food was amazing freshly cooked full of flavour good portion sizes and good prices! I was travelling solo for first time and was a little nervous and they all put me at ease!

The bed was very "springy" in terms of feeling the springs. Quite a lot of pub noise till quite late/early. I'd chosen this b'n'b due to another review saying there was little to no noise from the pub below. Bathroom was quite dusty. Not sure how often their "single" rooms are used

Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Lovely pub. Kettle with a decent selection of drinks in the room. Nice selection of juices and cooked breakfasts are made to order and you can choose what you'd like. Good coffee.

Shower cubicle was black with mould, as were windows. On opening the door I was faced with a wall that needed work on it, plastering or painting. Not a nice sight.

Breakfast was really good. Room was small but warm and quiet. Nice for one person. Lovely clean soft towels. Helpful staff and I was able to leave my bag when I arrived a bit early.

Location was great we were visiting wolds wildlife park with family on Sunday but spent Saturday in around Horncastle. Really enjoyed our stay, breakfast was brilliant. I was concerned about noise before we stayed but room was lovely, quiet had good night’s sleep thank you .

Nothing much. Some aspects of the bathroom were a little tired, but everything worked. Would certainly stay again if in the area.

We liked everything: A friendly greeting when we arrived; delicious hot food, even after we arrived later than planned; a great night’s sleep in a comfortable bed; a hot shower in a clean bathroom, then a fabulous breakfast to set us up for the day. We wanted to stay longer.

The food was amazing and the staff were great, they really looked after us. The breakfast was amazing, great choice, and good hospitality. The mattress was quite hard, so not really to my taste, but the bedroom was clean and tidy. The shower room was large, but It needed a bit of TLC. Overall I really enjoyed my stay.

Being such an old building it has its faults ( uneven floors, low door frames) but compensates with its old charm.

Was slightly confusing on getting back in after 11pm due to main gate being locked. After a while managed to find out way around the back.

Lovely feel to the hotel. Staff were friendly and gave clear information. Breakfast was ample and was greeted in the morning with a lovely cheery staff member who ensured you were well looked after.

If I had to be fussy then our wooden bed was very comfy but rather squeaky, made us giggle.

Easy check-in, lovely clean room in a stunning old building, comfy bed, quiet nights sleep (thanks to staff ensuring people are considerate when coming back in late, which works well), hot shower, great breakfast. What more could you want? Tim the owner was great to chat to about The Peak District & camper vans over our delicious breakfast, thanks Tim, we will be back! Even a gorgeous pooch to give belly rubs :)
