Dining area was worn and shabby. We arrived late friday afternoon - lounge was unavailable as there was a private function. Although there were function rooms the only eating area was the dining room. It turned cold at the weekend and although heating was turned on in most of the building it did not reach our corridor and room as we were at the far end. Needless to say we were not happy as we were cold with just a small heater to keep us warm.

Room was big and spacious. Bed very comfortable and warm. Dinner was lovely - well cooked and presented.

I could not eat 50% of the steak I ordered it was so tough and all the waitress said was - I will tell the chef.

I ask for a room with period features if possible and ended up with a lovely upgrade to a delightful room.

The only cause I have to moan, is that I drive a van for my business and when I made the booking there was no mention of the low arch to get in the car park, and as such I had to park on a local side street as I didn't fit. But that was only a small gripe to be fair.

A lovely olde worlde Inn which was clean and well presented, the staff were friendly and welcoming as were the Bar Team. The food was of a good standard, I had the Sunday Roast and whilst there were parts I would have had different, altogether it was very nice. The room was a good size and clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was really nice.

Undoubtedly the Internet is not up to standard, I gave up in the end. Further I could not get the radiators to work. Not a major problem in summer. Finally the bar staff were very nice but made it clear that everything closes at 11:00 exactly. They don't appear to want anyone in there after 10:30 even residents.

I don't eat breakfasts unfortunately. The evening meal (pie was very good. However the next night I asked for soup with toasted bead. I received a lute warm soup with whit plain bread.

Some traffic noise late night and early morning right outside window, but this was our fault for failing to request a quiet room. Some bedroom furniture was scruffy.

Beautiful historic oak-beamed hotel. Superb breakfast with many choices. Bus stops right outside front of hotel, convenient for those like us not using a car. Really enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again.

Bathroom door lacked any lock or closing mechanism. Rear car park very tight and difficult to manoeuvre.

The extractor fan wasn't working in the bathroom and we were told that none of them were working in the hotel. Somebody was going to come and fix them...In our room, no. 38, it took a very long time for the hot water to come through.

We had the continental breakfast during our stay. There was a good choice, cereals, fresh fruit etc. The hotel is in an excellent location, e.g. near Kentwell Hall and Melford Hall, 4 miles from Lavenham etc. There is a pub restaurant on the premises serving good food at reasonable prices.
