How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

We saw pictures of a bathroom with showr and got a room with shower over the bath. I think the breafast could be a little more upmarket
The hotel is well located between the cathedral and the train station. The staff are friendly and polite.

Great location. Nice hotel with parking and the staff were very polite and friendly. The room was a good size with a comfy bed and individual temperature control which is always good to have.

Reception could be better signposted, and an offer to help with luggage- because the building is old, there isn't a lift where I was.
Lovely spacious room- with a bath! Very quiet hotel, I was surprised at how many folks were at breakfast. Breakfast was lovely- eggs cooked to order, pastries looked wonderful, good selection of freshly prepared food.

There’s an annoying flashing light in Rm226. Walls are a bit thin for an old property. My booking.com was not on their reservations platform and took a while to check in with a very unwelcoming staff member who clearly doesn’t find it easy to talk to guests or smile. The room was 2 flights of stairs up and the digital card key didn’t work… twice !… tired legs.

Trying to find the parking area. Terrible directions. Please improve the directions on the website. I mean it’s a different postcode to the hotel and difficult to find. Needs step by step directions. The staff weren’t very helpful in this regard. The staff didn’t mention breakfast, checking out times or anything really.
Nice old hotel. Centrally situated. Good size room, comfy bed.

It’s a little dated but that’s reflected in the price. The hot breakfast buffet needs to be better organised. The insistence on having staff dish out the food and taking forever to replenish items means very long waits for a pretty average plate of food.
Good location, polite and friendly staff. Very good value for money. Cost bar area that was well staffed

We stayed for breakfast which we were a little disappointed with served on cold plates. My husband ordered scrambled eggs with quite a long wait again on a cold plate then had to go to buffet for remainder. We will probably stay again but will not have breakfast.
The hotel was clean and room was large. It felt homely.

Radiator too small to heat room at night in winter. Had run out of gluten free bread for breakfast although Tesco Metro was a 2 minute walk away.

One of staff on reception were not very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was not replenished very quickly so had to wait and very limited when it was replenished, disappointed.

Room and bathroom were a little too cold, but it was exceptionally cold weather and it must be difficult to heat such an old building.

The car park is a challenge to find and they served me cold tea in the morning, I also wasnt offered any toast or eggs and I left having paid £13 for cold tea a glass of juice and a bowl of cereal, really disapointed after the standard of the food in the evening. I also coudnt get the shower to work.
The dinner was lovely and the room had a desk which was useful and the bed was really comfortable. The staff were super helpful on the phone.

The room was very good and comfortable, however, the pillows were not good and, bizarrely, very small. Also the duvet was not good quality and the cover was far too large. In the overall scheme of things these are not significant and couldn’t spoil my enjoyment.
The overall feel of the place was great. Breakfast was very good and the hotel was in a convenient, central location.

No warning ahead of booking that there were very large Christmas parties in , so eating in would have meant a very long wait.
