Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe downside is that the room was very warm. We slept with the window open in April and it was still warm.
Good localization. The room is large and cozy. Very atmospheric hotel.

United KingdomWe was given a room on the top floor. Lift (which only goes up to the 2nd floor), resembled a service lift, not ideal for 2 ppl with luggage. And then had to manoeuvre up a narrow staircase with luggage up to the 3rd floor. Massive bedroom, but desperately needed renovating, carpets stained, bathroom something from the 70s and not clean. And unfortunately the radiators wasn't working (they probably needed bleeding), cold and draughty in that bedroom. Reported to the lady on reception, she was fantastic and told us there was another room on the 1st floor available. So I changed rooms. Room on the 1st floor, heating worked. Lovely bedroom and large bathroom. The lady on reception also tended to the bar, in my opion that is poor management especially when the bar is 24/7 , the staff are clearly over worked. Why not employ more staff to work on a bar? Thank fully we don't drink , and we are more than happy to drink tea. (Which we provided ourselves). I don't think they serve food no more. Good job as probably the reception staff would have to do that too, which would be unfair. The decor throughout, has at some point been tried to look "trendy", but it doesn't work with the furnishings, as the furnishings are good quality classic time pieces, and by painting over the architrave is a travesty, and also painting light switches the same colour is no no. They should off stuck with classic creams for the decor, instead off pea soup green and battleship grey. And why install radiator covers which are too tall to stop the shutters in the bar/lounge area from opening, another decorations cock-up. Staff deserve extra pay.
Lovely location, from outside the building looks wonderful.

The hotel had a wonderful historic feel. I was working in town and being off season there I was able to afford to stay at the Central. The rooms were huge and the views across the park were lovely.

United KingdomThe radiator needed bleeding, as it was only hot halfway up, that was all
We liked the room it was clean, spacious, and well equipped. It was far better than expected for the price paid The staff were helpful and curtious. The hotel was quirky with lots to look at in the reception and bar area. (Although in one part the wallpaper was peeling(on a stair corner), it was not ugly to look at.) There was lots of information in the reception area and an interesting book in our room. We definitely make this hotel our go-to hotel from now on.

United KingdomShame about the WiFi - but not a problem.
The hotel felt warm, friendly, quirky and quite grand in a loungey, comfy, Scottish manor house style. Big comfy sofa's in the bar / lounge / reception room, surrounded by quirky, stuffed animals, collected from a bygone era of castles and hunting lodges. The walls are adorned with victoriana prints and artwork of hunting scenes, people on horseback, historic houses - all adding to the feel of the hotel. I stayed in a very comfy, clean, warm and nicely styled room (still thinking Scottish manor house stylee!) I didn't have a view but some rooms would probably be in line with the sea. The Wifi didnt work in my room but my colleague had a very good signal. I'd certainly stay again!

United KingdomWe were given a room that doesn't seem to be used as much, so it was a bit tired. However, we really liked the size and being at the top of the building
We asked for a room with a bath, and the receptionist went out of their way to make sure this was the case. We were given a room at the very top of the hotel, which was excellent. Really spacious, with a seating area. The hotel itself is well located for arriving by train and being able to walk into town and to the beach.
