I think the restaurant prices are very expensive including the drinks, compared to other places we have been and a service charge was added, which we didn't expect.

The hotel and bar/restaurant is lovely. The food in the restaurant was very good. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Lovely comfortable room with nice toiletries.

Only small thing, I would suggest, at the end of the night, the staff putting out the bottles from the bar into the recycling bins, do it earlier or move the bins. 10.45 was a little late for the noise and also startled my dog.

Everything was really lovely and the staff was so helpful. The room was very clean, and the breakfast was top class and was delivered to the room as we didn't want to take our dog into the restaurant.

Whole place being closed on Mondays. Having to pay extra for extra coffee or toast at breakfast, extra toast and a pot of coffee should be standard Small bar area to sit and food and drink were pricey.

Missing some biscuits in the room to go with tea and coffee, had we known would have brought some! Pillows were very uncomfortable unfortunately, and could do with replacing with better quality, other than that everything else was good. Room quite small and can hear neighbours but adequate for a short stay out of the city.

Room lovely, warm and clean. Staff were brilliant and very helpful when we arrived early to travel into Oxford to the theatre. They offered to put our bags in the room and gave us the key in case we were late returning in the evening. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic, choice of one item made to order and there was plenty, very tasty and piping hot.

We were all happy with our experience at The Chequers.

We chose The Chequers as a mid point meeting place with friends. The rooms were clean and well decorated with large bathroom and, mini bar, coffee machine even an ironing board and iron! The pub/restaurant is comfortable and relaxing with interesting decor. What made our stay was the welcoming staff from check-in staff to bar staff to the breakfast waitress. Everyone was fabulous and made us all feel very welcome. The food was also of a high standard, with dietary requirements happily facilitated. We had dinner and breakfast the next morning. Both were excellent.

The room has a fridge which was very noisy so I had broken sleep. Breakfast was only served from 8.00am so offered a breakfast box which was very poor. Two boxes of cereal and a bit of sliced bread. No fruit or fruit juice given. Bad value for money when paid for breakfast. Evening meal was good but was charged a service charge even though the restaurant was not full and I was eating on my own. 🙁

We were not told that some items on the breakfast menu were in addition to the included items. This was not made clear when we were choosing. But it was still delicious.

Fantastically warm welcome when we arrived by one of the waiters. We liked the fact the rooms are in a building outside of the lovely old pub, so therefore it was very quiet (it was a Wednesday night), aside some minor traffic noise. The room and ensuite were really superb with modern underfloor heating so it was very cosy in February. The location was great for us too needing to be near the south Oxford ring-road. The food was delicious - both dinner in the pub and also breakfast.

A warm welcome on check-in with a glass of fizz by a log fire set the standard for a great stay at The Chequers. Our room was one of (8?) newly- built in a courtyard , very clean, warm and comfortable, with ample parking. The restaurant is excellent, food and service to a very high standard, both for dinner and breakfast. Thoroughly recommended.
