Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis is an excellent location for a short stay and there is nothing that one could dislike.
One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast. Not only is it wholesome and plentiful, the two ladies who attended to us were so friendly, eager to help and knowledgeable about the surroundings and attractions. At so many hotels and such like, you arrive in the breakfast room and are just expected to help yourself and get on with it. At the Chequers Inn you are served. The Chequers Breakfast is strongly recommended though the omelette runs it a close second. The room we were allocated is excellent in both facilities and comfort offering both a large king size bed, sofa and occasional fold away bed. It offers great views over the local farms and downlands. The bathroom is very modern with a huge corner bath and separate shower stall. Even though the room is over the public bar, it is still quiet and no noise intrusion was noticed. Whilst the road is close by, traffic is slight after 9 pm and does not bother you during the night. We also had evening meals which we selectred from a good range of dishes all cooked to perfection, very hearty and of good value for money. The Inn is centrally located which makes it perfect for visits to all parts of the island. The WIFI is limited in that it will accommodate emails and such, but the bandwidth is inadequate for streaming video and other high volume requirements. At present there are a lot of road closures on the island so it would be well to seek the patron's advice on routings to attractions etc.

United KingdomNothing.
We certainly recommend this place. The Chequers Inn has good food, it is in a really good location to have as a base to see the Island, it has a nice selection of beer (the wine menu didn't look too bad either) and our room was large with a comfy bed (always important) and the staff we're really nice.

United KingdomCan't think of anything.
Great location in the centre of the island. The room was very well equipped, and had very good quality fittings and a large bathroom. The breakfasts were exceptional with very good portions and great choices as were the evening meals. All the staff that we met were very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the local area.

United KingdomThis is the perfect country pub. It is stylish and clean and the food is excellent, but it is not in the slightest pretentious or ‘gastro’. We ate a delicious dinner, stayed in an extremely comfortable, well decorated and well maintained, family room and ate a hearty, gourmet standard, breakfast featuring local produce. The rate for the room and breakfast was so reasonable it seemed wrong not to be paying more. Best of all, the staff were unusually friendly, welcoming and good with our three, often boisterous, children. They even rang us ahead of our arrival to warn that there was a party being held in the pub the evening of our arrival and letting us know that it might be noisy (which it was not!). I could not recommend this hotel and restaurant more highly.

United KingdomWe had the family room and whilst the main king size bed was comfortable the single little camp style bed and the sofa bed mattresses were clearly coming to the end of their usable life and for comfort could do with replacing.
Staff were excellent. We were a very last minute booking because our ferry was cancelled but they were all outstandingly polite, good natured, helpful and accommodating. It was clean, spacious, surprisingly well sound proofed from the main pub, lovely and warm. Dinner and breakfast both offered a lot of variety and tasted great.

United KingdomAlthough rooms were supposedly soundproofed there was quite a lot of late night noise from the bar and from passing traffic. The room was quite cold at times, the radiators were not turned on despite cold and inclement weather, there was just a small mobile electric heater available for the large bedroom area and a heated towel rail in the bathroom. Outside, although a large car park, there were no dedicated disabled parking spaces close to the entrance making access difficult for the less mobile, especially if carrying luggage. Once inside, help with taking bags up and down stairs was given at check-in and check out.
An excellent standard of cleanliness in a spacious, comfortable room with every amenity provided. Plentiful choice and quantity of great quality food included for breakfast and a good varied menu in the on site restaurant for lunch and evening meals. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Central location was ideal for easily getting around all of the island attractions.
