I rarely do reviews but this was exceptional. Great host in Kenny. I had booked the smallest room for this visit but was also shown the Penthouse. I'll be returning at some future time with my better half. Fully automated everything via Alexa in the room from curtain opening and closing, lights on and off, alarm and check-out. Plus free off-road parking as a bonus.

Beautifully decorated throughout, spotlessly clean, had everything we needed, thoughtful additions like milk in the fridge and local cake to sample. Great communication, friendly owner, really well equipped, eg automated lighting/ curtain closing. A real gem of a place.

There was no breakfast, but I knew that when signing up. Anyway, I needed a break from the Full Scottish after several days in more traditional accommodation elsewhere. If you are someone who insists on heavy Victorian Scots clichés in your guest houses and hotels, though, you may be better off elsewhere. The jury is still out on whether the automated 'Alexa' system (allowing the proprieter to operate a mobile 'reception') is a good or bad thing. The fact I never wanted for anything during my stay meant I didn't really try it out.

My room commanded a spectacular panorama of the Tay and its rail bridge. (The proprieter informed me that the same goes for most - but not all - of the rooms.) This grand old place appears to have been given a thorough facelift in recent times. This has brought the best out of original features in the communal areas whilst affording considerable comfort, space and modernity in the rooms. The proprieter clearly shares my taste for slightly post-modern decor, which is to his credit. The fact that in-room provision included a Dundee Cake literally put a cherry on proceedings.

The room was spacious and beautifully decorated with a lovely view over the river. The owner greeted us and was paarticularly helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this accomodation!

Nothing, although Alexa is a bit weird when it decides we needed music after we went to bed....

Pleasant, large room with a great view of the Tay. Useful kitchenette. Comfortable beds. Keypad entrances means no worries about keys. Bus stops outside, although it is a fascinating walk into the city centre. Although we didn't need it, it's obvious parking is not a problem.

As room was so large a little on the chilly side when we arrived

The hotel is very high tech with checking in and checking out handled by remote assistant. Lots of other room functions (lights, curtains etc) carried out via Alexa. Very spacious and clean room with great views of the Tay. A short walk to local restaurants and bars. Easy to park outside or to rear of hotel. Very comfortable, huge bed. .Exceptionally good value..

The decor, standards, welcome and location couldn't be better! We loved the view over the Tay too. One of the best hotels I've stayed at, and nothing was too much for Kenny, the owner/ manager. The use of technology to ensure everything is catered for was innovative and we had fun with it too.

Nothing really; although there was a lot of technology (virtual concierge, Alexa as a host, electric curtains). I think it's an age thing, but I seemed to spend quite a lot of time working things out which was a bit of a pain when we only had one night there.

The room was great and the whole place was really well looked-after; clean, bright and thoughtfully furnished. It was good to have a small galley kitchen, if only to make a proper cuppa!
