Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyAlthough there was a breakfast option it began at 8am which was a little late for making it to early morning work meetings in nearby Oxford.
I recently stayed for two nights at a lovely hotel in Oxford while on a work trip. As a solo traveler, the comfort of the room and the welcoming staff made a great impression on me. The dinner offerings were exceptional and beautifully presented. I would certainly consider returning to this hotel for both accommodation and dining if I find myself back in the area.

New ZealandNothing - it was well appointed with awesome staff
Its location outside Oxford was great, just being able to be in a rural pub was a great experience for a couple of Kiwis. The bedroom was cosy with a good bathroom - I take it these were the original stables in the earlier days which made it feel more special The food is amazing - dinner and breakfast

United KingdomThe rooms are not brilliantly soundproofed so the birds tweeting at 4am although lovely, was also unwanted. You can hear noisy neighbors coming and going as well. As we stayed in march i do not know how much noise from the outdoor pub seating would also filter into the rooms
Lovely traditional pub, obviously very popular for food. comfortable if slightly snug room. Very friendly staff. The breakfast was really good

This is my second stay at the Coach & Horses. They have a small number of rooms in a block behind the pub. The rooms are clean, comfortable and perfect for an overnight stay for work or pleasure. The pub & staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is very good. Breakfast is in the pub from 8 am and I need to be in work early, so I missed it first time round. This time I spoke to the staff when I checked in and they prepared me a breakfast tray to take to my room which was perfect.

United KingdomA little bit isolated if you were there for more than 1 night but that’s just being picky.

United KingdomSlightly disappointed to arrive back last night at 8:30pm, so discover the kitchen closed & not even to be offered a sandwich. Whilst we later read of the kitchen closing hours (which seems very early), I felt a little tardy. In no way did this really spoil our stay.
Lovely welcoming old pub, with excellent food & ambiance. Room was cozy & tidied whilst we were out.

United KingdomOnly downside was the bar closes at 6pm on Sunday (the night of our stay) as we were enjoying a cozy evening in the pub. We were informed of this on arrival and so can't complain at all
Amazing location for a short drive into Oxford or a Walk to the Crazy Bear restaurant. The breakfast in the morning was amazing which followed a brilliant night stay in a beautiful room.

FranceOur friend's room was initially cold as we couldn't work out the heating - tip to staff - preheat any booked room, particularly in December! [Perhaps add 'instructions' too.] While an okay size, the room felt small. But we were only staying one night.
The food here is exceptional for a 'country pub'; it really does a lot more than the usual burgers and chips! Quality of our meals was superb, as was the generous breakfast. They have managed to keep that intimate and comfortable feel by not overcrowding the tables. All the staff were very friendly and willing to help with any request, and always with a smile.
