How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We loved it all!
The delightful staff particularly Alice for her enthusiastic welcome and also for providing us with a very comfortable room and Mandy for her cheerful attention in the dining room! Super comfy kingsize bed!!

The security shone in our room all night but I told a member of staff and they responded immediately
The whole experience from checking in to checking out was amazing. Staff made us feel like we were the only residents there, nothing was too much for them. Food was delicious, clearly home made. Extremely generous portions

The lighting in the bathroom by the mirror was a bit dark, difficult to see when applying make up, etc. The door handle to the room was slightly broken but still functional.

Upon arrival I actually joked to my girlfriend that it reminded me of Fawlty Towers from outside, white walls etc Got in the door, rang bell on the counter, fella appeared at the reception desk, seemed a little vague as to what to do, would have been better to say bear with me I'll find someone to help you.. Manuel immediately sprang to mind unfortunately. Another lady came along and had a better idea of what to do to book us in and provide the key thankfully
Nice location, quiet, very comfy bed The breakfast was cracking! Everything on the plate was hot and fresh, including the beans, beans are nearly always like warm elsewhere

Nothing. We could find no fault.
We stayed for a surprise birthday celebration. We had multiple rooms booked and a large meal booking. Everything went to plan and everyone had a wondeful time and we couldn't rate the hotel more highly. Rooms were clean, warm and beautifully decorated. All staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely food in the evening and at breakfast. We had a wonderful stay. The staff went above and beyond to help give my family member a wondeful celebration. Thank you 😊

We had requested a bathroom with a shower not a bath but did not get this but this was not the hotels fault. The TV did not work in our room but the staff and owner went to great lengths to get it fixed which they did. Again this was not the hotels fault as a storm that passed through had brought a tree down and consequently knocked and aerial out. It was fixed the next day. One minor niggle, and this would be true of a number of hotels, would be the grouting in the bathroom needs a little bit of attention.
Excellent location. Lovely room, great bar and friendly, helpful staff. The dinner menu was OK with quite a variety of dishes. When the food arrived it was hot, as served on warm plates - thank you! The portions were a good size - almost too big! Although we did not eat Sunday lunch it was great value and looked good. Breakfast was excellent value for money and very good.

Nothing not to like !!!
Our stay was fab from start to finish. Our group of 8 arrived early and 2 of the rooms were ready and they even opened the bar early for us!! The rooms were large, comfy and had everything we needed. The evening meal was fab too. Top breakfast with excellent friendly servers - for which nothing was too much. Will defiantly be back

The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Our journey was delayed so we arrived quite late but we called ahead and the staff made sure to wait up for us which was very kind of them.

Everything was perfect
The accommodation, food, staff and cleanliness of The Coach House made it a wonderful place to stay. We stayed in room 17 and it was literally a home from home. Definitely recommend people visit!

No hook on back of bathroom door to hang pyjamas/ dressing gown/ clothes etc

A relaxing stay in a quiet location with friendly, welcoming staff and good bar, lounge and restaurant facilities. Superior room 16 was ideal for us, being two separated parent / child rooms, sharing an ensuite bathroom with TV's and storage in both. Ample parking, beautiful outside spaces and good public transport links. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and the staff were helpful and attentive at all times.

Nowhere to put anything while in the shower e.g Shower gel ,shampoo. Good that something was provided but many guests would surely be using their own favourites
A comfortable room with only minor reservations. See below. Great breakfast with plenty of choice. Pleasant restaurant with a good choice of meals.
