Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI loved it, but the hotel is a really old historic building with loads of charm which has been adapted to be a hotel. It isn't a state of the art modern one with loads of amazing gadget type features. (The aircon is doing it's best, the windows are old sash, the shower was good but the water has to travel through a long way to get to you.) It's recently reopened and the staff and new management are trying hard. All this I think is very well compensated for by the low room rates.
It's old historical charm and touch of Victorian Glamour! It's beautiful wooden panels and the fact that a stunning old building is being re-purposed and can be enjoyed by all. Go explore! It's a short stroll to the Millennium Centre and all the lovely cafes and bars etc in Cardiff Bay.

United KingdomCouldn't close the window. The shower dripped noisily. There was no evening bar service. The outside of the building is in need of renovation.
Great staff, comfortable bed and quiet at night.

United KingdomThe bar area was unwelcoming. An armchair in the bedroom and a bin in the bathroom would have been useful.

United KingdomNeeds a lot of attention to detail really going forward regarding general maintenance and cleaning. Lots of chipped doors which is a bit off-putting. The stairs looked like they hadn't been brushed for a while. Our room could of been cleaner. Marks on bathroom door and carpet. Also the ceiling had like splash marks. How they got up there....who knows. Good luck.
Really friendly and helpful staff. Stunning building. Our room was nice. Lovely big bath and a powerful shower over it. Great breakfast the following morning with good quality products and plenty to choose from. Good location for the bay and train into Cardiff Queen Street.

United KingdomThe room smelled a little musty, but it's what you'd expect with a building this old.
Loved the location, perfect for the theatre and bars/restaurants in Cardiff Bay. Only 25 minutes walk into Cardiff Centre. The room was full of charming furniture, had a jacuzzi bath and was very spacious. The architecture inside and out is amazing, the staff were friendly and helpful and I'd happily stay again.

United KingdomMusty smell on entering room not sure if it hadn't been aired in a while. The wet carpet on the entrance to the bathroom. No remote for TV. Parking not available outside hotel for duration of stay.
Loved the atmosphere in the restaurant, couldn't find our online booking but there was space available. Very friendly and attentive staff at breakfast. Text message service for hotel issues responded promptly. Comfy beds. Beautiful bathrooms.

United KingdomIt would be nice for the cost of rooms to be shown to your room instead of just directed. This would be more personal touch.
The staff were brilliant. The hotel could do with a little bit of TLC. As we are at the beginning of this season, I expected the hotel to be in better condition In a maintenance capacity

United KingdomDouble bed was vey comfortable but a bit on the small side for a hotel of this stature.
Breakfast was OK sausage was undercooked and we were not informed that you could order poached egg or porridge although there was a very little card we found on the table later advising these options but by the time we saw this we had eaten. We did have an evening meal in the restaurant and it was exceptional in quality and the price was no more than restaurants in the Bay.

United KingdomThe Room felt like it could use a little spruce up in certain places- the wallpaper was peeling and in the bathroom it had lovely tile work but the skirting boards were shabby and in need of a lick of paint.
I like the history of the building, it has so much character and the lounge and ball room felt really grand. I love that the bedroom was quirky unlike most hotels. The bed was big and comfortable and the jacuzzi bath tub was so lovely! Overall a lovely hotel, we would definitely cone back.

United KingdomThe bath had not been scrubbed clean there was still a line when sat in it. The breakfast was awful, sausages looked anemic, black pudding stuck to the roof of my mouth , I think the bacon was smoked which I don’t like , all these are kept warm too long and it’s not nice to eat. The toaster only toasted one side if you did it again it burnt it ! Why can’t you just serve breakfast to order especially for the price that’s paid . The small bar was very dated and dingy the curtains were awful please look at them .
It’s location was good , the room was nice and clean.
