Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt would be nice for the cost of rooms to be shown to your room instead of just directed. This would be more personal touch.
The staff were brilliant. The hotel could do with a little bit of TLC. As we are at the beginning of this season, I expected the hotel to be in better condition In a maintenance capacity

United KingdomDouble bed was vey comfortable but a bit on the small side for a hotel of this stature.
Breakfast was OK sausage was undercooked and we were not informed that you could order poached egg or porridge although there was a very little card we found on the table later advising these options but by the time we saw this we had eaten. We did have an evening meal in the restaurant and it was exceptional in quality and the price was no more than restaurants in the Bay.

United KingdomThe Room felt like it could use a little spruce up in certain places- the wallpaper was peeling and in the bathroom it had lovely tile work but the skirting boards were shabby and in need of a lick of paint.
I like the history of the building, it has so much character and the lounge and ball room felt really grand. I love that the bedroom was quirky unlike most hotels. The bed was big and comfortable and the jacuzzi bath tub was so lovely! Overall a lovely hotel, we would definitely cone back.

United KingdomThe bath had not been scrubbed clean there was still a line when sat in it. The breakfast was awful, sausages looked anemic, black pudding stuck to the roof of my mouth , I think the bacon was smoked which I don’t like , all these are kept warm too long and it’s not nice to eat. The toaster only toasted one side if you did it again it burnt it ! Why can’t you just serve breakfast to order especially for the price that’s paid . The small bar was very dated and dingy the curtains were awful please look at them .
It’s location was good , the room was nice and clean.

United KingdomThe room was warm and stuffy despite aircon working. No tooth mugs in the bathroom or a waste bin were little irritations. No shaving mirror either.
Good location on Mount Stuart Square, interesting history and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great breakfast (12.50).

United KingdomAlthough the room was a little tired in places, the location and friendly staff more than made up for this. We had a brilliant time in Cardiff Bay and would certainly stay here again.
The room was large and we had the fabulous addition of a jacuzzi which we had not expected and thoroughly enjoyed!

United KingdomOnly complaint I would personally have was that there were not enough teabags etc for 4 people (there were only 2 in fact) and that my Niece wanted a quick shower and although a beautiful big bathroom and bath, the shower was ceiling fitted so she was unable to just body wash without ruining her hair
We were a party of 2 sisters with 2 adult daughters travelling to city for Bruce Springsteen concert.Lovely large and light airy room with plenty of mirrors and space for us to get ready..Great location for us to pre dine without all the hustle and bustle of the city before the event. No problem with 2hr early and late checkouts Would definitely return

United KingdomDouble bed but was very small and that caused an inconvenience in the night ... morning we were woken up by loud Indian music right at the door by the cleaning staff who were talking to each other louder to cover the loud music .. our check out was 11 .. but we were very tired and when I heard such loud music instantly and funnily I thought they got some sort of alarm for check out even though was only 10 am .. we paid for a room with breakfast included however on arrival reception was blanking the breakfast bit saying you have paid room only .. and I have said is breakfast included also as stated on my booking.com , lady agreed ,breakfast yes however didn't give us any sort of information about the hours of breakfast or where is the restaurant.... and we ended up not having breakfast but neither we knew where we could have had it
Lovely building .. Room was ok , clean , location was good ,parking near by

United KingdomThere wasn't a bin in the bathroom and also no bin liners in the bin that was in the bedroom. Easy enough to deal with but a little annoying when dealing with certain types of waste.
Amazing jet bath that we weren't expecting, felt amazing after all the walking we had done. Very convient location, plenty of multistory parking in the area, and it's much easier to drive into the bay than into town.

United KingdomNothing to complain about, although maybe a couple of suggestions of very small details. Eg. Grab rails for baths and use an anti slip mat , if required.
Spotless hotel. Very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Have stayed here several times, and have already booked another visit, this year and one for next year.

There is nothing like spending time in a historic building. There are not sleek new furnishings but quirky fun things to explore. Staff well versed on history and anxious to share. We would get lost in building only to discover something new. Our room bigger than expected. Thank you for saving such a glorious building so important to Cardiff
