Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe rate I felt was quite high for the area but this was the only hotel (for that matter) that had en suite bathrooms. This might be franchise set prices - never been to one of the Inn Collection properties before. Saying that, I still found the stay extremely pleasant and wouldn't mind staying at another one of their properties in future.
First time in Blyth, with an overall positive experience. I stayed over for a single night whilst busy exploring the area. The location was interesting as it was on the further and quieter end of the harbor which was actually a really nice surrounding. The room itself was relatively large and comfortable. Whilst there was a sea view, it was more looking at boats coming in as opposed to any beach, though I did actually enjoy this as it was peaceful. The room was very quiet despite having a pub/restaurant downstairs. I ate dinner and had breakfast here, both of which were really good and rather inexpensive. Staff were always very friendly and accomodating. I enjoyed the self service check-in/out as this was very convenient and efficient.

United KingdomNothing, I wasn't happy with the hotel chain due to experiences at another hotel belonging to the group but this hotel restored my faith in the hotel group.
Booking in and out process was quick and easy. Breakfast was good, freshly cooked and enjoyable. Great view from the room and good sized room and bed.

United KingdomCarpet had got wet so a bit damp smell and wifi dropping a bit, unsual for them as usually good, they are always quick to solve and help with anything.
always love the Commissoners Inn and stayed many times, staff and location are amazing. Would definitely recommend it, food, customer service and rooms are always clean, everyone so helpful and friendly. Wifi usually strong for working. More expensive due to demand, which is great but can't always stay :)

We ate in the restaurant. One night the pie was not good, pastry hard. We should have told staff at the time, but didn't. Generally the food was good.

United KingdomStaff were not knowledgeable of local area, close to the hotel. Our first time visiting Blyth and we asked the location of a popular venue which we believed was less than 10 mins walk from venue but the 2 members of staff we asked didn't know where it was and didn't think to ask any other (possibly older) staff. Evening meal - told we didn't have to book (Saturday night!?) - at 5pm it was extremely busy with a birthday party, and staff went on at length to explain why we had to wait for a table to be cleaned. We had a deadline to keep to - and we just made it. Cooked breakfast - half cold, half hot. We were emailed the day before, inviting us to both book in early to save time, and to pay for our stay. I booked in but the system wouldn't let me pay. Not a problem. When we got there - because we booked in online, the system wouldn't let reception properly access our booking. Manager had to be called to sort - so where was the time saved on that?
Room had everything we could possibly need. Toiletries were of good quality (my favourite brand), fixtures and fittings all good quality, room spotless. Room was at the back, which was great; nice and quiet, away from any possible noise.

United KingdomThe room was very hot because the radiator thermostat did not appear to work so it was on full all the time. This hotel is a self check in hotel which is ok but there is no clear communication path if you have problem with your room.
Room well decorated and appointed nice view from window. Very clean and a decent size . A safe in room along with iron and ironing board.

United KingdomAlthough the hotel is really nice, there are very few options to eat out of the hotel, maybe why it's so popular with the locals. There is also very little shopping locally, typical high street as are a lot of towns now, sadly. There are supermarkets Morrison's and Asda. If you want shopping, then you'll need to go into Newcastle, lots of local busses to other locations as well. In addition, there was no " big" light in the room, no problem for me, but the wife had to use the bathroom to see to do her makeup.
Hotel like new, rooms were clean and as the build was 2016 the decor was really like new. The bed was 2x3/4 matresses made into a large double. Room 304, which we had had a sea view, which we asked for. Breakfast was really good, and I had trouble eating all the full English. The restaurant menu at night was good, but a little limited, but everything looked home made, not pinged.
