How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Only a small dressing table mirror in the room so unable to check out my outfit before leaving the room.
Staff were friendly and welcoming and the room was clean with nice little touches like a personalised welcome note and some sweets to enjoy! I ate in restaurant and the food was delicious, they were offering a 2 course Spring menu which had enough choice to make it a good option for my 2 night stay.

Bar shut a bit early but not an issue.

It’s right on the road and we thought traffic may keep us awake, but after supper we had no trouble with traffic or other noise. We didn’t need ear plugs. It was peaceful.
Large comfortable room and bathroom. Great service from friendly staff. Food of a very high standard and reasonable value. Pub bar and dining areas lovely with good atmosphere. Car park spaces reserved for residents.

A small negative with our visit being very early March, the heating/radiator required attention bleeding most likely as the room was below temperature for time of year.
Absolutely adequate for our needs, very handy for interesting places to visit in North Somerset. Breakfast perfect.

Breakfast was superb. A good range of foods on offer, including gluten free. Cereals and fresh fruit were available at the buffet counter and the hot food was good quality, beautifully cooked with very generous portions

No dislikes.
Good location for visiting Bristol and the surrounding area. Excellent fulfilling breakfast with good range of choice. Also had two evening meals there which were very enjoyable and well priced. Comfortable room with good facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Have stayed in three hotels in the South of Bristol area and this is by far the best. Would definitely book there again.

Minor niggles in the bathroom really, the toilet was squashed in the corner, and there were no hooks or towel rail nearer to the shower. (Wedmore room) Tiled floor bit on the cold side.
Clean and welcoming, the bed was comfy no dip in the middle! Good choice of food for breakfast, the staff were polite and friendly. Great idea to be able to take extra milk in a flask to your room. Good location to use park and ride for Bristol.

Our room was spotless, warm & beautifully furnished. We opted for a full vegetarian breakfast, which was lovely, and coffee was plentiful. Staff were incredibly helpful & friendly - we asked to borrow an iron & ironing board, and had both delivered to our room within minutes! I would highly recommend a stay, and will definitely be back soon!

There was nothing to dislike.
The staff were very welcoming, professional and helpful. The food was excellent. The room and ensuite were very clean, well-appointed and a good size. The bed was very comfortable and there was a range of teas, coffees, waters and snacks, included in the price.
