Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing!!
Very nice room. Comfortable, but a little on the small side. Plumbing noisy during the night. I do understand it was a saniflow system, so it couldn't be helped. Definitely not a complaint. All the staff were very nice and helpful. Lovely breakfast too.

United KingdomStayed 2 nights over a busy Friday and Saturday bank holiday. Slightly noisy on Saturday night as we slept very early whilst the pub was still open but not excessively. Staff were great and very accommodating, especially to my 92 year old mum. The place was exceptionally clean and newly decorated. The car park was large and free with many spaces still available at 9pm on a Saturday night.

ItalyAlthough breakfast started at 8.00 a.m., the staff seemed a little put out when we went down at 8.20'ish. The manager who greeted us at check-in was polite and professional, but otherwise the staff were fairly unwelcoming. The room was comfortable, but the shower drained extremely slowly.
Excellent breakfast. Ideally situated for Bakewell and Chatsworth House.

United KingdomTo be honest, there was nothing I balked at in relation to this property and I would stay there anytime we were in the area. It was excellent as a base for our visit.
The Hotel itself is situated at the high-point of Baslow Road, leading in to Dore. Our first impression was very favourable,it had an old-world charm about it, great parking and an impressive entrance to the property. The eating area was well furnished and attractive. After we booked in we were led to our allocated room over the stable block. It was very comfortable, clean and welcoming, even to the large balcony which allowed us to sit in the cool of the evening.

United KingdomRoom was exceptionally hot and an awful green fire exit light lit up the whole room which was a bit annoying.
Great location with a lovely pub. Food was excellent and the staff were wonderful friendly and attentive. The staff went out of their way to allow us to have breakfast early on Sunday so we could get away to a specific event.

AustraliaSome light road noise first thing in the morning (c 7.00am), but quiet during the night. Room was a little hot overnight even with window open.
Excellent location on the edge of Peak District in Totley, really good access to Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt Edges only 7 mins drive. Room was basic and compact but clean and tidy and quite adequate for the three nights I stayed. Most staff were very helpful and welcoming.

United KingdomWindows would not shut - ok in Summer but still not secure. Breakfast was hit and miss - mine was great but my wife had smashed avocado which was inedible because the avocado was totally unripe and consequently not smashed but sliced. Extra toast as compensation didn't really cut it.
Our review would have been a 10 for this property but for the things in the 'don't likes' below. The staff were great, the room was a reasonable size, fresh, comfortable and clean - which is what you want, much better than I expected from a pub stay. Very good value.

United KingdomI did enjoy breakfast but it would have been nice to have the option to have a basic buffet with cereals, juice etc and not just the cooked option. Simple toast and jam would be good.
Welcoming, clean and comfortable. Very dog friendly which is what we needed.

United KingdomWe have no complaints about our stay. If we have to find anything the placing of the toilet roll holder wasn’t ideal and lack of shelf space for toiletries in the bathroom but we are being picky here trying to find something.
Lovely room, tastefully decorated, lovely staff, spotlessly clean, lots of unexpected extras for what we paid (e,g. Nespresso coffee machine, biscuits! plugs and mirrors in the right places! Comfy bed.

United KingdomPossibly new to the catering business and still learning on the job, hence the price. The breakfast menu offered to guests, on the room literature didn’t match up with the service downstairs? Perhaps in future there should be a breakfast table with juice, cereal and bread Etc. ?
Wonderful redecoration, probably not charging enough for the stay.

United KingdomWe were disappointed that our preferred choices for dinner were sold out, but we did order quite late
All food was excellent, including breakfast. We particularly liked the extended breakfast hours. Our room was very good, and included a balcony, which was great for enjoying our morning tea and coffee. All drinks were reasonably priced. All public areas are comfortable, light and airy and very well appointed

United KingdomStaff often seemed a little unsure about things, e.g what drinks they had to offer behind the bar, and as the hotel part is relatively new (I think!) staff seemed unsure of procedures E.g checking in and out. We were given a different breakfast menu in the hotel room to what we were offered downstairs, and even then it seemed like the chef potentially wasn’t used to breakfast customers.
Hotel is newly refurbished, very clean. Bed was very comfortable and room was well stocked with tea/coffee and bathroom well stocked with shower gel/shampoo/lotion/hand wash. Bar/hotel staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Hotel was on a good location, only a 20 minute drive from Sheffield city centre. Location was peaceful.

United KingdomSadly there was an issue with the kitchen the following morning, so we didn’t get breakfast which was included. But the chap who checked us out happily sorted a discount to make up for this ( we popped up the road to the Bird Cafe instead). Next time we look forward to having breakfast too.
Firstly, the location. A couple of minutes drive from the Peak District National Park, and close to Sheffield, in a very pretty, quiet village. Plenty of parking around the side and back of the hotel. The recent renovation was clear to see. We were quickly checked in, and our room was perfect. Large and light, with high vaulted ceiling, very comfortable bed, tea and proper coffee making facilities. Soap and shampoo in the shower room. Iron and hairdryer in the wardrobe. Everything was spotless. We had a delicious evening meal and drink in the bar/restaurant downstairs. Everyone was polite and friendly. It was the perfect getaway. We would happily return.

United KingdomRoom lighting was poor, especially shower room. Not helped by dark decor. Breakfast - Eggs Benedict - OK, but eggs overdone and hollandaise sauce was not the best. Breakfast served in bar area but conversations between staff were loud and some 'choice' language from one female member was not what you would expect.

United KingdomIt’s a pub with rooms remember, so very busy in the evening and not a great deal of comfort. Our bedroom, with balcony, overlooked the main road which would cause problems without ear plugs. Although room decor is excellent, they are on the small side. Our bed was not big enough for two restless people, so you wouldn’t want your stay for more than a couple nights, fine on your own. Cuisine is basic pub, excellent choice of drinks.
Very well located for trips to Derbyshire Peak District. Large car park, ok for visiting Sheffield, friendly and helpful staff.

United KingdomNot value for money at all£120 Access through the back gate is extremely awkward. Room was so dusty, everywhere, see pics Grout in shower needs to be replaced as brown. Dispensers in the bathroom are propped up with cardboard ( see pics ) mattress was way too soft, got back ache and didn’t sleep well. Shower door hits the sink.. A very tired room..! And to top it off Mushrooms growing in the corner of the window sill in the Ladies toilet..disgusting..! Won’t stay again…!
Location is good and staff are friendly. Breakfast was good but the chef forgot to put any bacon on the full English.
