Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThere is no staff available and you have to call a number to get instructions for check-in. The rooms are in poor state, with furniture significantly damaged, mirror missing in the bathroom. The sheets were clean enough. The room had a door to an adjoining room that barely blocked any sound from a loud neighbour.
It is pretty close to interesting parts of town and the main roads.

United KingdomThe issue was with noise - I could hear conversations and people walking around above throughout the evening and was woken in the early hours because of the same type of noise so not a restful stay.
The room was clean and spacious with a comfy bed and a hot shower.

United Kingdom1. Tap handles on sink loose. 2. Loose toilet seat. 3. No bulb in bedside lamp. 4. Walls between adjacent room not lined therefore yiu can hear other guests. Feels like a lack of privacy. 5. Top floor where I stayed was clean and appeared recently refurbished. The rest was in need of a big make over. 6. Having to avoid the large bucket on the 1st floor landing where it is kept to catch water from the leaking roof.
You get what you pay for. Cheap and basic. Good tea, coffee making things plus biscuits!

United KingdomNo one on site, on street parking is in a rough area, tv didn’t work, we were promised a fire stick that never materialised and no one is on site to ask. The fire escape was blocked, and we have a small baby and were placed on the top floor, no lift so not really ideal. Only one bulb worked in the room, and the shower wasn’t clean.
The bed was comfortable and room temperature was good.

United KingdomNo television at all, never mentioned this on booking site. Bit dated, could use some sprucing up and a bit of TLC. No Reception, call a number on door and someone arrives shortly. Very noisy club on same road and extremely noisy departure of guests from it till all hours. Road outside our room was used by locals as a racetrack. Not the best, or quietest, place to stay on a Friday or Saturday night perhaps.
Good location, fairly close to amenities.

United KingdomI am not sure where to start. It took 20 min to get in as the hotel is not manned. The room was ok but noisy as it was next to a busy road. TV did not work and was told the mast was out in the area but locals had tv. No breakfast and shower heat controls were broken. Never again
The location was great for me and the shops/ takeaways were close by.

United KingdomTV's in both rooms didn't work and there was no kettle in one room. The taps were broken in my room, and the bulb was missing from the bedside lamp meaning I had to have the main light ion to read. The light switch was right in the middle of the bed headboard meaning every time I moved the light went out.
I had visited the Douglas before so didn't have high expectations. There has been a change of ownership, and it may be that it is in a transitional period, but at present it is in dire need of maintenance and investment to bring it back up to standard. It is a budget hotel which shows, but there is no excuse for the basics not working. It was clean and tidy if somewhat tired, and that is about what I expected.

United KingdomI just needed a room for the night and had no need to use any of the other facilities so can't comment on those. Parking is an issue as it's resident parking only so you will need to sort this out. Early check in was not available as they were full which would have been useful. Room was to be expected, shower warm but quite weak.
The accommodation was fair and as expected for the good price I paid.

United Kingdom4 stars on booking but in reality it's a run down b&b. Toilet seat missing, tv ripped out from the wall together with the wall mount, bed messy, no towel, water pressure very low - calling it a 4 star hotel is clearly an overstatement.
Staff was helpful with check in.

United KingdomNowhere to park but fortunately managed to park overnight for free 50 metres away as the ticket machine was broken! A dibble of warm’ish water from the shower and hot water tap. Disappointed to see that the fire escape from the top floor was cluttered with loose bits of discarded metal and large cardboard boxes!
The room was clean, spacious and the bed was comfortable.

United KingdomA number of faults in my room, the most serious of which was no toilet seat. Also very poor hot water flow (unusable). The room should not be let until those faults are fixed. Other faults were a broken blind in the bathroom (I fixed it), no lamp in bed light, bathroom door latch faulty, light over bathroom mirror u/s, no loo roll holder, no TV remote, shelf missing under mirror and a slippery shower tray. My friend's room was ok!
No staff on site so no breakfast was available, we hadn't intended to have one anyway. Hotel was clean and reasonably comfortable. In the main value for money (but see below)
