The only thing we didn't like was that there was no option to have a cooked breakfast and the dinner menu was very limited.

The location is easy to find. We have stayed here a number of times. The staff were very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable.

Food was great. Railway station 75m away and nice walk up the road through bush clad hills and saw wild deer grazing. Also lots of rubbish.

The food in the evening was delicious, but after 2 nights we decided to eat elsewhere as the portions were simply too large. Also, the positioning of the toilet rolls in the bathroom was a tad inconvenient.

On the whole, the continental breakfast was fine, although one morning my wife's croissant tasted stale.

Nothing to dislike!! If being really picky...the option of a bar meal in the evening after 5 pm would have been appreciated. The last night we just wanted a smaller meal rather than eating off the restaurant menu. But it wasn't a big issue! Had the cheese plate which was great!

All the staff were so pleasant (especially Ruby who was a credit to the hotel) were efficient and worked so hard. Very professional, well trained and lovely staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was large, very clean and well equipped, with a real comfy bed and a good shower. Excellent room price - real value for money and inclusive breakfast was very good. Restaurant food was excellent with mostly home made meals - plentiful portions too, superb service and great variety - excellent value for money. We ate there every night of our 3 night stay...which we never do! Plenty of free parking directly outside. Friendly bar with chatty locals and a great barman ( student from Bristol studying Maths! ) The railway station opposite was an added bonus which was great for getting to Dorchester and Weymouth. Will definitely return! Great location as could easily access tourist areas.

Could do with more storage for clothing in the room. There were no drawers just an open hanging rack & shelving.

Comfortable & clean. Good food in the pub.

Only down side for my husband is the hot breakfast because the hot breakfast was always excellent

Stayed here on several occasions, perfect as my sister lives up the rd, the rooms are spotless the staff are so friendly, the only down side is there is no hot breakfast which makes my husband sad but I’m happy with what’s on offer as it’s all of excellent quality I’m booked in again already for October for a family wedding, and the upside is there is train station across road so you can get arround super easy definitely recommend this property Thankyou for another excellent stay

We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of the lounge as we ate our dinner the night we arrived. the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was a lovely surprise to be offered complimentary continental breakfast next day. The table was laden with a variety of pastries, cereals, meats, cheeses and spreads. The accomodation was easy to find and had a large area to park in.

An comfy stay in the English countryside

The only real problem I had was the humidity in the room. Couldn't shift it. Stayed quite damp. Even though the bathroom had a vent and the room had AC, stayed a bit clammy.

The staff there are the most wonderful, always friendly, always with a smile. The pub downstairs had a lovely selection. We had dinner there twice, both times very nice. Big portions, reasonably priced. Breakfast was simple but effective. If you want something exotic, find it elsewhere I'd say. The surrounding area is very tranquil. We spotted some deer and squirrels nearby.

We all loved this friendly, welcoming traditional country-pub hotel
    • Leisure trip

Our only comment is that the double-glazing means the windows don't open, and even though the air-conditioning is good the room was slightly stuffy.

All 15 members of our family reunion group had a wonderful time at this very friendly traditional country-pub hotel. The rooms are slightly old-fashioned but cosy, with comfortable beds and powerful modern en-suite showers, and all staff were welcoming and helpful. We met for drinks in the spacious garden then enjoyed a truly delicious dinner, with all 15 meals perfectly coordinated. And the railway station (on the line from London to Weymouth) is literally next door, (but excellent double-glazing means that we couldn’t hear either the road or the railway). Breakfast is a simple continental buffet, with fresh pastries. Very highly recommended!
