It took us a little while initially to work out how to exit with a vehicle through the main gate in the time available (!) though happily we managed it in the end

Accommodation was comfortable, well equipped & conveniently located; in a peaceful setting; and we had good clear communications with the host before our stay.

To open the car gates when leaving the property was a little annoying, The single gate needs some work with access coming back and forward to the property.

    Location was great

The release for the gate is in the bedroom. It would be better if there was another release in the lounge or entrance hall.

Communication with the host prior to the visit was very good. The location was quiet. The accommodation was clean and met my expectations. Good travel options as the property is close to the A1 with a station within walking distance, if you want to visit London or Cambridge.

The lodge itself is pretty, but unkempt. I would Imagine that in previous years the lodge was perhaps a detached double garage with office above. The ground floor is open plan. The kitchen is well equipped but crockery is miss matched and well used and the kettle needs descaling. The furniture throughout the lodge is a real mixture of old and new. The property was fairly clean and there were towels and chocolates on our bed when we arrived which was a nice touch. The bed was clean and comfortable however it had no mattress protector underneath the sheet. The bathroom was of a good size but definitely requires a good update. The shower was very powerful but did not get very warm and the plug in the bath leaked so you could only have a quick bath. The shower curtain had mildew on it. Overall it was a place to sleep after a busy day and not the relaxing welcome we hoped for at the end of the day.

The property is within beautiful grounds and surrounding area great for dog walking adventures.

What lets the property down is the bathroom. The shower is difficult to get the power level right. The bath plug does not fit properly so water is draining away. The weather was cool for August so we also got a lot of condensation. We also had problems with the lights but this was sorted by the owner. The access gate was necessary (particularly because of the dog) but having the control point upstairs was awkward and the operation of the gate was slow and cumbersome.

We booked The Gamekeepers Lodge because of the location and because it took dogs. It was excellent for the dog with a lovely (shared) garden and plenty of footpaths on the doorstep for dog walking. The property is quirky (in a good way), simple layout, clean and reasonably equipped. The beds were comfortable and the TV and wifi worked well. The iron was excellent but the ironing board was not. The hair dryer was very good but the property needs a mirror somewhere other than the bathroom.

The property was unfit for renters

The lodge was dirty and hadn't been properly cleaned. The heating came on at night and the pipes made loud knocking sounds. The bathroom was unbelievably bad, rusty bath, a mould-incrusted shower curtain, rusty radiator, and worn shower. In a cupboard in the living room, there was a bag of rubbish from an earlier renter. As a landlord myself I couldn't believe that the property has current certificates required for renting the property, e.g. energy, electricity. I took photos of some of the worst areas

    The WiFi worked

A very very small converted garage which is listed to house 5 persons but 3 persons maximum is all this garage is suitable for. 2 persons left immediately and the additional £280 we paid for those persons was refused to be paid back and I was told that if I didn’t give a bad review the owner would consider giving me back my additional £280 paid for 2 more persons who refused to live in such a small garage. The 3 other men who did stay there had bite marks on their skin after leaving and reuse to return to this property.

    Nothing

I liked everything. It was a great, well-presented lodge with everything that I needed for my stay. The gardens were beautiful and it was a pleasure to stay there. I would recommend it to friends.
