I mentioned if I could give a six star rating, I would have. I mentioned nearly all the staff were very friendly. However, I will still give a five star rating but will have to bring this to your attention. Upon checking out at 11am, I was a little behind in leaving the room. I was about two minutes from leaving the room at 11:20 when I got a knock on the door, which I was half expecting since I was a little late leaving the room. When I said I would only be a minute or two, the staff member insisted they really need the room now. I do not believe this was either necessary to speak to guests in such a way and that it takes exactly four hours to get every room ready for the next guests to arrive. If the staff member came back lets say 20 minutes later and found me still trying to leave, probably I could understand that reaction. I was gone from the room in less than five minutes. As this was the last moment of my stay, this moment could have been a very good reason to leave a poor rating. But I was brought up to be better than that. So please if you can make this a point of staff training to always be friendly to guests in such situations as well as at all times. That was the only downside which did not detract from the experience. But just something to mention as point for next time.

If it was possible to give a six star rating, I would certainly have given one. Everything about this property was first class and more. This 16th Century building is amazingly well looked after and the rooms were as authentic as they come. This is the yardstick that all pub hotels should be measuring up to. Nearly all the staff were very friendly and willing to help with anything. This was made even better with the freshly cooked breakfast that I was served. It is one of the places to stay even if you are not doing anything in the area. I could go on and say a lot more but you should get the point by now. Thank you, well done and keep up the fine work!

The stay was only let down by our breakfast. No danish pastries or croissants available on the serving table. Cooked breakfast took an age to come and when it did most of it was cold. A couple and their child arrived sometime after us and were served before us which leads me to think our breakfast sat on a side somewhere going cold sadly.

A really beautiful Inn. Fantastic staff on front desk at arrival. Stunning room and loved the nice touches like Gin and chocolates in the room. Really lovely products in a really amazing bathroom too.

Rather dim in room, TV very high, no where to really sit in room apart from 1 stand chair. We don't like having to lay on the bed and whilst we found the quiet room, the easy chairs were not too comfortable and were low. Could I suggest an alternative to just Grapefruit & Orange juice as anyone on Statins must avoid the former. Cranberry and Orange would solve this, Grapefruit is less popular these days for this (I'm retired ex grocery retailer)

Breakfast on wed was excellent (head chef on duty?) not so good on Tues, margarine for toast not acceptable. Found LED lighting too DIM in bathroom & bedroom. Shower door came off rail too easily. Room well cleaned & liked the toilet roll extra decoration different, plus liked blue LED light. Difficult to find anywhere to put toiletries down in bathroom with older worlde sink. Sadly lots of road noise, but appreciate this is a room at front on A25. Staff good. Meal on Monday night for 8 was not too good for c £450, Wake on Tuesday you could do with more side plates rather than serviettes

Stairs were narrow but that is to be expected in an older building so nothing to really complain about

Love staying at this place, and like everything in life - nothing is Perfect. What could be in proved? - Bathrooms: Somewhere to place your Wash Bag. The rooms (i've stayed in most of them!) have shelving in the bathroom, but very few have adequate place to place a reasonable sized washbag near the sink for handy use. - It can be a little noisy: Not really the fault of the Hotel, more the proximity to the main road and the absurd amount of traffic. Ask for a Rear Room if you're a light sleeper.

Beautiful Boutique Hotel is a great location. Bedrooms are clean, spacious (Deluxe Double) and very comfortable. Staff are welcoming, and always attentive to any needs Excellent Bar with a great selection of beer, and one of the few places that still serve a decent Pint in a Jug Glass! Breakfast is delicious - but if you're staying over and hoping to for an early getaway... do factor in they do not begin the service until 07:30

This is an old pub full of character and beautifully furnished. It is very comfortable and every little detail is thoughtfully provided, such as a radio playing classical music in the bedroom and very nice tea, coffee and chocolates. Also whisky! Beautiful toiletries from Bramley add to the luxury. The bed is enormous and very comfortable. The staff are all warm and helpful. This is a super place to stay!

I wondered if it could be considered that when the hotel and staff all leave at night , if a resident wanted any savoury items in the room( to pay to get of course)you could get them . Crisps etc I would have liked to have some that later evening. Just a thought maybe if not in the room then the small room with paid access to items ?
