How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Unfortunately the cold water in the bathroom had a sewage smell about it. Also we didn’t have time for our breakfast so requested one takeaway coffee and this was declined.

Parking was a little limited, but at least there was a public car park across the street.
Gorgeous, characterful hotel in the centre of town. Lovely rooms, excellent bar, which was especially dog friendly (even with a dog menu!), great food, and fabulous staff.

having to use my breakfast plate for my marmalade toast! A side plate would have been nice. Room rather cold when we arrived and needing a rest, heating not on .
We were pleased there was a vegan option. We always take our own spread, but it would be helpful for other vegans/dairy intolerant if it was stated clearly beforehand that vegan spread isn't available.

The only downside was that our room was not cleaned on our second day. When we reported it, it was done quickly though - obviously just an accidental omission. This is our second stay here, and we will certainly go again if staying in the area.

We have always been happy with the rooms allocated to us on arrival, however this time we were very disappointed with the room. We asked to move to a better room and we had to pay to 'upgrade' to a different room.
The location is perfect for a nights rest during regular journies between Cornwall and the South East. We own an electric car and we are pleased to be able to charge the car nearby. The staff are friendly and very helpful. We enjoy the evening meals we have when we arrive, and the breakfast in the morning, before we leave. We would like to mention that we had booked a room and an evening meal a few weeks before this stay. When we were delayed, because of a serious car accident on the road ahead of us, we called to say that we may be arriving too late for the meal. The staff kindly stayed on until we arrived.

The bathroom was exceptionally small.
The room was lovely. The food was delicious, good choice on menu and the staff were friendly. Free WiFi and a great location with a free car park.

check in is at 3pm (although they let us to check in at 2:30pm ish) and early check out at 10am(again they let us to check out at 10:20am).
from a few options I go with Full English Breakfast(bacon, sausage, mushroom, toasted bread and butter, baked beans, egg and was good enough. Their coffee was delicious and there is a corner for more jam/honey, cereal and orange juice. bed was comfortable and there are 2 pairs of pillows , great!

Single glazing on windows means loud outside noise (maybe due to the listed status) but nothing done on the inside to counteract it.
Location, nice charming building. Young lady who checked us in (sorry didn't catch your name) was very friendly and served us drinks at the bar even though they were closing. Good value for money.

Limited parking. Even though we booked a Sunday roast for ourselves and a couple of friends on arrival. When we arrived to eat on Sunday we were advised that several things weren't available of the menu as sold out.
