Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt would be nice thought to receive some biscuits with the tea/coffee things after the first day, with possibly a hot chocolate sachet as an alternative to tea as I don't drink coffee.
Room comfortable and no disturbance. Breakfast good even though the kitchens were out of order for hot food on my last morning, I still had a lovely breakfast. Parking a real bonus.

United KingdomOn this occasion the kitchen wasn't working properly which meant a restricted dinner menu, plus I couldn't actually have the cooked breakfast I'd paid for. Also, I had to pay in cash at the bar for the first 1-2 hours because their card processing facility was down. Luckily I had sufficient cash on me.
My stay at the Goddard Arms, Swindon, was generally fair - have stayed there a number of times before. The staff were excellent.

United KingdomIt would be nice if there is an electric socket nearer to the bed. I have been to Goddard arms quite a lot in the past and I knew I had to bring an extension electric plug in device, so I could charge my phone and other electrical devices by the bed.
I liked how the bathroom is brand new and very smart. All the facilities in the room was perfect. Staff were extremely friendly.

United KingdomNow for dinner, we had to wait 40 minutes for food as they said they were exceptionally busy, but few staff. The problem as we saw it was the number of home deliveries coming out of the kitchen. Unfortunately, it is a sign of the times and destroying trade for those eating out. When our food came, three of the starters were cold, two of which were mussels. Half the mussels were dead (not opened) and lacked any flavour, and the sauce was like cloudy water. There was also no crusty bread served with them as per the menu. Having complained, these were returned to the kitchen. We were then informed that they had no more mussels but could have an alternative starter, which we declined as we had already had a lengthy wait for our food. We went straight for our mains instead and refunded the cost of the starters. Came down for breakfast in the morning looking forward to a hearty breakfast to start us on our forward travel, thinking it would make up for the previous evenings dinner disaster. This was not to be, firstly, my partner ordered the traditional English breakfast with scrambled egg, no sausage, and brown toast. It duly arrived with white toast and a sausage. I ordered the traditional English with poached egg and white toast it arrived with brown toast. The menu also stated back bacon, and both breakfast arrived with a measly slice of streaky bacon. I can understand a possible mix-up with the toast, but as this was put on the plate with the breakfast and not on a side plate, we could not easily swap them over. One can accept the odd mistake with meals in a very busy kitchen, but this was clearly not acceptable and highlighted a number of basic issues. There was also the major issue of food allergies, whilst at dinner the question was raised, it was not raised again at breakfast I then had to put up with a very rude member of staff jump into a conversation I was having on the subject of food allergies with another member of the team.
Everything was fine until we had dinner? The staff were great and the room was fine. An old building with a modern twist, well presented and set out. Friendly staff creating a vibrant atmosphere.

United KingdomToilet seat had a foot missing which made it a bit wonky when sat on. WiFi a bit of a fiddle to sign in to. Decor in stair enclosure needs a bit of tlc.
Near to food establishments in Old Town and has a restaurant downstairs. Nice breakfast. Comfortable enough for me with TV and walk in shower. Nice shower gel and hand wash provided. Staff were polite and helpful.

United KingdomI thought that the cost was on the high side when compared to the likes of premier inn and travelogue.
Single room at the front of the property was comfortable and adequate for an overnight stay, the property is on a busy main road so traffic noise was noticeable but not overbearing, breakfast was very good however the offer of more coffee/tea would have been welcomed, staff were very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomI didn’t like the check in arrangements. No reception as such had to wait at the bar until the RIGHT person became available. (15 mins)
Location, value and the room itself. I had room 14 on the top floor. A bit quirky, not perfect but clean and tidy and away from the noise of the bar. Also parking on site.

United KingdomI would probably not have picked a room on the top floor if I had known, but that was not a big issue Breakfast was very good.
The staff were accommodating, the manageress and the young man behind the bar who lived in Australia (sorry, I didn't get names) were both on hand and made us feel welcome and fixed a couple of issues I had immediately.
