Some of the F&B staff were quite frosty. We wanted to have a quick drink in the bar in the evening before going to RAH for a concert. We were made to feel as though this was a huge inconvenience. Other staff were quite rude. I was given a voucher on arrival to use in the hotel for 15% off F&B purchases. When I presented this after ordering coffee, the waitress said she didn't know whether it was valid and would have to check with the manager. She returned and very grudgingly said it was. I was warned that as the building and plumbing were old and our room was on the 5th floor, it might take a little while for the water to run hot. When my daughter tried to take a shower there was absolutely no pressure and she had to call reception to get someone to come to fix it. While our service charges were removed from our bill as a gesture because of teh inconvenience, one would reasonably expect that a £400+ per night hotel would have their plumbing system in hand.

I chose this hotel as I wanted something close by the Royal Albert Hall. The Gore couldn't have been more convenient. The reception staff and concierge were very friendly and accommodating; we arrived early and were able to leave our luggage until we could check into our room. The decor was beautiful throughout the hotel and we had a very good breakfast before leaving the next morning.

Our single beds had double sized duvet covers which were very wrinkled and bundled. So we had to remake both beds to ensure the excess covers were down the sides of the beds! Surely s hotel of this standard has single covers to fit the duvets?! The WiFi in our room (304) continually dropped out and couldn’t be used. We couldn’t switch off the lights without getting out of bed - small point. The lift wasn’t working when we visited.

Location and cleanliness were both excellent. Staff very helpful. We didn’t have breakfast as it was so expensive, so can’t comment.

The hotel is old - obviously! But some parts of it need attention: mostly the plumbing (shower tray not drained quickly enough, and sink taps quirky to turn off..) and the heating ( there was none in the Library and we froze! ) Service levels vary depending on how full the hotel is: the first night they were exceptional, but as more guests arrived the next day, rooms didn’t get cleaned until mid afternoon, room service menu choices evaporated, room service food was poor; and the final breakfast was good rather than exceptional. I do not like being charged ‘optional’ service charges at the best of times but not at all when service is poor but that, at least was resolved amicably.

The breakfast was excellent: up there with the best I’ve eaten in London. The room was clean, warm, and comfy. The reception staff were polite and helpful. The bar was (too) well stocked!

Unfortunately, there was no hot water the morning we checked out. The staff were very apologetic, and we were compensated without question.

The staff were fantastic and incredibly helpful. The building was beautiful, and it was so close to the Royal Albert Hall.

Couldn’t read in bed as curtains around four poster blocked bedside light making it too dark to read a book! Would have been good to have a tray for teacups and also some more accessible wall sockets to charge phones/appliances. Night concierge wasn’t able to sort out our air conditioning which was okay as temp was cooler as it’s springtime but not if it was summer!

Excellent service. Staff hugely helpful and friendly couldn’t do enough for you. Really nice decor. Loved the bar and library. Great boutique hotel vibe with lots of character. Excellent location. Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel is well situated for royal albert hall and museums. Check in was quick and room was small but comfortable. Hotel is charming in its decoration.Breakfast was good but nothing exceptional. Staff were friendly and helpful.
