Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was a convention on which would have been good to know at the time of booking as made the hotel quite noisy and busy. The car park, while cheap and handy, was one of the dirtiest car parks I've ever experienced. The lift was out of the order and the stair wells were full of rubbish and pools of urine - had to hold my breath from the sixth floor the smell was so bad. Not a great first impression of the hotel!
Location is great, room comfortable and had everything you could need. Staff all very helpful.

United KingdomNot much room for hanging clothes, the only hanging space was right over the tea/coffee making facilities. The toilet was positioned far too close to wall.
The location was excellent for our needs. The bed was gigantic. Very nice bar area. Massive bed & very comfortable.

United KingdomThere could have been two armchairs instead of one in a 'double' room. TV was in an odd place - we had to move the one heavy armchair to sit in it to watch. Also there were no in-room instructions on how to operate the heating/air conditioner. Operating the car park entrance etc was not obvious - the signs were not good and I thought the car parking fees were high.
The room was large and comfortable and well equipped. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. Shower was good and shower gel and shampoo provided as were house coats and slippers.

United KingdomWeird decor. Very cold. Weird bar and restaurant - odd food combos for our corporate lunches. Expensive breakfast. Disabled ramp in the middle of the stairs, not very safe for people who have to climb over it.
Good location. Decent size room.

United KingdomBathroom could do with renovating a little bit. Room was nice but bathroom seemed a bit unloved.
The decor in the reception and eating area was nice. The breakfast choice was good. The hotel was in walking distance of the town and places which we wanted to explore. Car park was secure.

The staff were extremely helpful and inderstanding with our issues. We asked to move rooms twice intinially as there were problems with both rooms. We were given an unexpected upgrade which turned out yo be perfect.

United KingdomIt's become faceless & bland unlike when I have stayed there in the 'old days'. There is no longer an advantage to staying there compared to other hotels in the area as it offers nothing special anymore. The bar closed at 10.30. Really?! The young guy who checked my friend & I was trying to deal with a difficult customer & persuade me to join ACCOR (turned out I was already a member), but I still think it was a bit unfair that he gave me the smaller room, when I made the booking! They were both 'Classic rooms' & both could have been in a Premier Inn. (See above). We chose not have breakfast, but went to the French Pancake House down the street, which was both quirky & original (things so lacking at the Grand) with excellent food & coffee.
The facade of the old hotel. The location, very close to the Beacon Concert Hall where we were attending a show. Room was comfortable enough & clean.

United KingdomArrived at first breakfast at around 9am to find half the buffet items were not present - had to wait for refills and many items from the buffet not hot and dried up. Hotels should remember breakfast is a meal like any other and customers pay good money. I’m sure evening meals wouldn’t be presented in this way!
Location for the Old City and shopping quarter excellent. Really friendly staff.

United KingdomGetting to the hotel with post code and sat nav took 45+ minutes in Bristol. Loads of bus lanes, one way streets. Rang hotel from car and 30 minutes later still in the telephone loop system, telling me they were busy , we arrived having asked a taxi driver! Receptionist very apologetic, but 30 minutes on hold is unacceptable.

IrelandThe beds and duvets were very poor - close to no heat in the duvets and the beds were quite hard and uncomfortable. The room was very cramped and extremely drafty. It had a storage heater plugged in as a last resort to try and prevent the cold from the badly insulated windows.
Great location and very nice and quiet despite the central location. Breakfast was very good although the staff seemed to have a hard time keeping up with the pace and some foods were unavailable. Bathroom was clean and the shower was excellent.

United KingdomUnfortunately on this occasion the staff weren't very friendly. The staff did their job promptly. But there was no customer service involved which I think is a shame at such a lovely hotel. Also, the shower plug was a little bit difficult to navigate. As a Disabled person and I couldn't reach any of the hand rails or hooks In the bathroom. I am on the small side. I admit , but i'm not the only one in the world. If I hadn't have had such a good deal through booking.com I don't think I would have been happy staying this time. But it hasn't completely put me off.
I have used this hotel a couple of times now. And I do very much like it as I am disabled and the location is very good. It is always comfortable and very clean. And I like the fact I can have a quiet drink before bedtime.
