Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe en suite shower was a little basic but that’s understandable given the historic setting.
We ate dinner at the hotel; it was superb with excellent wines to accompany the meal suggested by the helpful staff. Breakfast was of the same quality with excellent choice.

United KingdomThe second evening we didn't have a table in the restaurant and that we found disappointing. We had a very small table where people were constantly bumping into us. Same food but not the standard of the restaurant but charged the same prices.

United KingdomTelevision as mentioned previously and food and drink prices were high.
Room with four-poster bed was beautiful! Old world charm with modern comfort & the loo was amazing! Only slight downside was that the television was small & high up & remote needed new batteries. Dinner was good but over-priced. Breakfast was lovely! All the staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. The garden was an absolute delight with stunning view.

United KingdomThe letdown was the bedroom. We were in Bluebell. It is an old pub, so we were expecting quirky. Ceiling is very low. The main concern was there was no shower, just a roll-top bath, with a handheld shower attachment. Although it all looks nice, it's really not practical. The room would be no good for anyone with mobility issues. Feel it's overpriced for what you are getting.
The Griffin Inn is a lovely old pub. All the staff were lovely and friendly. Both the breakfast and all our evening meals were delicious. The seating area inside and out is lovely. There is an outside covered area and then masses of space with benches over looking amazing scenery. The outside lighting at night, gives it a nice feel.

United KingdomWhilst the property has parking it is not reserved parking and so was a nightmare - it would have been better if guests had reserved parking spaces - it is very popular for lunch and evening food and so we had to park way way up the road on the street - long stay car park was full also. Food was ok but menus are very "designer" - probably just us as we are quite fussy with what we like and don't like - but to be fair it has won awards so guessing this is just our personal view. The lunch menu is the same as the evening menu, and there is no alternative bar food at lunch time, like panini's for example, Needed a taxi in evening and didn't appreciate we needed to have probably booked one earlier in week - all the numbers provided were already booked and so we ended up having to drive to our event we had travelled for. Not The Griffin fault but just mentioning for any future visitors purpose.
Huge gardens with beautiful countryside views. The rooms were lovely and clean and the shower was great. Staff were very friendly but came across as if everything was hectic! They are very busy over lunch and in the evenings and are running around, resulting in sometimes forgetting to bring something over etc but all in all were very nice people who worked hard and nothing was too much trouble.

United KingdomMy family booked 3 rooms over the course of a week. 2 of the rooms did not have over head showers, and in one room, due to it being at the front of the pub the windows did not open, which on a hot week was very unpleasant. All of the rooms are very expensive; for that price to not be able to have a shower or open the window was not what we expected. The staff barely acknowledged us being there, which seeing as we were a wedding party and had spent a lot of money with them I thought was very impersonal. There is a good range of breakfast options, but 4 of us had poached eggs, none of them were runny. Lovely place, but the lack of attention to detail and customer service make it not worth the pricing.
The pub, style of rooms, the outside courtyard to eat and the garden are all beautiful.

United Kingdomon one minor problem was very low water pressure in the blue bell room, which made it impossible to use the shower. I can understand why as the building is so old but probably be a little better if a power shower was fitted. This small problem did not spoil our stay and given change we will return.
fantastic place to stop, we loved every minute.
