The hotel rooms felt tired and in need of update. Thin room walls meant you could hear snoring in neighbouring room, fllimsy pillows and poor water flow in shower and cheap toiletries. Not worth the premium rate paid that didn’t even include breakfast.

Peaceful location, beautiful spacious grounds and glamping set up. Friendly staff.

The towels and mattresses (and some beds) need to be replaced with hotel-grade ones. That is all.

The location, the restaurant, the facilities. The staff were amazing, very professional and very kind. The estate is a wonderland, beautiful and clean, peaceful and serene. I love the fact that it has a quick access to the coast- the little walk in the woods is really fun!

You could screen off the view of a storage shed from the kitchen window of the bungalow.

Being able to walk through the woods to the beach. Parking right by the bungalow was handy. The bungalow was just right for our stay.

Low room height into the en suite from our room. Banged our heads a few times. Bird droppings on our car whilst parking.

Excellent Breakfast served with care and well presented. Evening meal was also very good and lovingly prepared.

There were a few eccentricities. None of them were awful, but together they created a slightly unprofessional feel. Firstly, in my room, the toilet seat was wobbly. I found it impossible to get hot water from the shower (room 6). So I had a bath instead and really enjoyed it. Probably the most annoying thing was that my room was quite cold. Although I was there in April, it was a cold, wet day. The radiator in my room was on, but just not very powerful. After dinner I found myself tucking up in bed to watch TV. The rest of the house was fine, just my room was cold. Which brings us to the TV. I could access a variety of streaming services, but there was no broadcast TV. Again, small complaint, but when away from home it's nice to just flick on Freeview or Freesat, and watch whatever is there without having to choose. In fact, watching the local TV news gives you a good feel for the area you are visiting. Then, finally, on my last day, I was leaving not long after 7am for an early business meeting elsewhere. I thought that would be easy, but I found the front desk manned by the night porter, who didn't have access to the check-out system. "Somebody will be here in about 10 minutes," he said. I didn't have 10 minutes and had to leave. I expected that someone would ring me later to run through the bill. Not so, I simply saw a debit from my credit card for the room and dinner. It seemed about teh right sum, so I didn't really mind, but it did feel slightly 'amateur'. None of this spoilt a lovely stay, and I still left a satisfied customer.

The grove is a charming house, set in beautiful grounds. The staff went out of their way to make staying there feel like a special experience. The restaurant was quite superb, and absolute highlight!

There was nothing we didn’t like, would only say for the price it would have been nice to have breakfast included all be it for one morning only.

Bungalow was spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable yet spacious, beautifully situated, quiet and peaceful with everything we needed.
