Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot enough space for parking near accommodation for all guests. Terrace outside room for pub guests meant noisy and not very private.
Great location to explore on foot, by car and by bus. Very hospitable staff team. Comfortable bed and daily housekeeping to suit our needs. Great atmosphere at pub for food and drinks which were delicious.

United KingdomNothing, as we couldn't fault it!
Wonderful stay at The Hero, situated in a prime location for sight seeing and offering first class food, attentive service in an olde-world pub but with modern accommodation. It was a joy to watch the happy staff all 'teaming' together to offer best service, and I would highly recommend this pub for both food and staying in.

United KingdomCouldn’t get terrestrial TV to work but I player worked ok
The area is lovely as near the Staithe. Lovely room small but tastefully decorated liked the fresh ground coffee with cafetière and nice selection of tea provided in the room. Staff were very friendly and helpful great athmosphere at the pub which was very busy and very popular with people with dogs but that didn’t bother us. The food was excellent one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had and the a la carte breakfast was amazing, quality of the food was so good

United KingdomA broken lock meant walking round the pub along the busy road to get to room, which was unfortunate (rainy night!) but presumably a temporary blip.
A very good location close to the coast and near to The Coast Path with good cycling options too. The staff were unfailingly helpful and welcoming. Dinner and breakfast were both very good.

United KingdomMy room was not clean between my nights. I did not mind that the bed was not made, but I did struggle with the French press not being cleaned which meant that I needed to get rid of coffee remains and rinse it in the sink in the bathroom - not ideal. I also had an early start before the breakfast hours, so I asked for a breakfast to go - I was made a cheese sandwich which was very basic - brown poor quality bread with grated cheddar, but nothing else in it. I have expected a tiny bit better breakfast for the price. It would be also wonderful if the team invested in better quality bread - it would add to the overall offer as it is not a cheap place. The shutters let a lot of light in and there aren't any curtains - I have forgotten my eye mask and could not sleep in the morning.
I stayed in for two nights. Location is wonderful, staff very friendly. Bed comfortable, plenty of pillows. Bathroom spacious Very good restaurant and breakfast.

United KingdomIt was a tad expensive but that is it!
The room was really lovely, and the bed was super-comfy. The breakfast was absolutely superb: beautifully presented, generous portions and scrumptious. We had the Full English and the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. The coffee was delicious! The staff were welcoming, efficient and excellent. Would definitely come back again.

United KingdomThe Hero is a very busy pub especially at peak times, so getting a table, if not prebooked might be a problem? This is also more of a dining pub, so just having a drink might be problematic too? For overspill though there is a sunny front terrace ideal for leisurely drinks.
Loved our room, small, but perfectly formed with a nice modern well laid out bathroom. Cocklestrand also has the benefit of a lovely view down the opposite cottage lined street to the harbour. Staff at The Hero are welcoming and efficient, making dining and staying here very pleasant indeed. Guests are also given a 10% discount from any food and drink purchases during their stay. This was our second stay and once again we thoroughly enjoyed it. The particular appeal of The Hero is its location to Burnham Overy Staithe, which offers a beautiful walk to the beach through the nature reserve, reed beds and dunes. A local bus service also runs to other coastal towns, stopping right outside The Hero on a regular basis. Please note: The Hero is a very dog friendly pub.

United KingdomWhen a place is this nice it comes down to knit picking to find areas for improvement. so for us the restaurant menu a little restrictive, would have liked more lighter options on the main choices and less reliance on streaky bacon for both evening meal and breakfast. Unable to turn down heat in room at night but had we stayed longer would have requested a few degrees less which I am sure would have been accommodated.
excellent breakfast options, bistro feel of the restaurant and good selection of ales. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good location to leave the car and walk for a change. Quite road at night outside room which was lovely.

we took along our very nervous dog and the staff were so kind and seated us in a quiet corner. they were so understanding and made our stay very enjoyable. they went above and beyond to facilitate us. the food was lovely, our room was warm and comfortable. The Hero’s location was perfect for exploring North Norfolk with Holkham Beach nearby, Wells next the sea, and National Trust Felbrigg Estate and Burnham Market. we intend to stay again in early December.

Fantastic breakast. One of the best I can remember. Food in the restaurant in the evening was also excellent. Would definitely go again. Nice 5 foot bed, and a nice little ensuite with a good shower. Location was also good, with a short walk down to the "harbour". Just a shame they couldn't sort the weather out for us ;-)
