Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomN/A I didn't like leaving
Just perfect.. beautifully decorated and the attention to detail just made it that extra special. Not just any ordinary Shepherds Hut. The bed was so comfortable, kitchen and bathroom facilities in the Hut were superb. The shower was powerful and the toiletries smelt lovely. The outside seating area has the most beautiful views. Rob and Denise were very welcoming and informative about the local area. Best mini break I've ever had and will definitely look to go back to the Humble Hut again.

United KingdomThe shower didn't get very hot despite running the water for a short while, but I'm sure that could be resolved quite easily.
The facilities in the property were really very good considering the size. The external facilities were also very good, but because of the weather when we visited, we were unable to use them which was unfortunate, as the view was lovely. The hosts were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The property itself was very clean and the fixtures and fittings were perfect for the size.

United KingdomNothing, everything was perfect.
Lovely little hut. Everything we required was there. Warm and cosy. The owner gave full run down on everything you required. Pub within walking distance (we didn't use). The owner allowed me to use a socket to charge my car (paid extra charge for this, which is fair).

United KingdomJust that we wanted to stay longer!
We loved every single thing about this property and could not fault it in any way. It was such an idyllic little hut with a great view and in a great location to explore Northumberland. It had its own little garden and the owners of the property including their lovely pets were just the most friendly people you could meet an couldn’t do enough for us! We used the log burner, we used the kitchen facilities and everything was spot on including the comfiest cosiest bed! They have even set up Netflix and prime TV on the tv so after a long busy day exploring we could chill in bed an watch something with a nice drink! Bathroom facilities were no trouble and even with wind an rain during our stay it was so cosy and humbling (hence the name!) we wished we had booked a few more days it was the most beautiful place we have stayed for a getaway :-)

United KingdomHaving to leave because we were STUPID and only booked 1 night!!
Everything. Stayed for 1 night and it was better than we could ever imagine. Spotlessly clean and cosy with a lovely cottage feel. Rob is a wonderful host, very friendly and accommodating and we even got to meet his cat and dogs! Very informative of the hut and recommendations for places to eat and walks to do. Hut has everything you could ever need, including books, playing cards, fresh milk in the fridge, extra blankets and pillows, and LOADS of logs and fire lighters for the log burners inside and out. Smells lovely and clean, bed is comfortable and the views are just wonderful. We had been In the hut less than an hour and we even saw a few rabbits running around! Lovely and private as well, never felt overlooked or anything. Devastated we only stayed one night and definitely will be staying again!!

United KingdomThere wasn't anything we didn't like. We have stayed in a few shepherd's huts and we were concerned we would be overlooked. Once we were in the hut you wouldn't know you were close to neighbouring houses. My only feedback would be to get rid of the stools and put an extra cupboard in to store food. Then put a foldaway table under the mirror for you to have your meal.
Rob was so friendly and welcoming and made sure we had everything for our stay. The views were lovely and the log fire was fantastic. We stayed on a night where the temperature dropped to -3 but we were toastie warm and even had to open a window at one point.
