Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSome of the food was over salted and large lumps of rock salt actually almost spoiled some dishes with garnish of salad ingredients - finer salt for finishing would be preferred. Menu was the same both days so had the same amuse bouche and starters but chef kindly added two main course items Oysters and Lobster. The Lobster was fine but the accompaniments were chips and salad served in rather clumsy large bowls - which seemed a little pub - like for a restaurant claiming to have a Raymond Blanc trained chef. Presentation and arrangement on plate could have been more considered. These are just a few points but overall the food was very good - not Michelin star standard but quite close. A little more care and attention at the end of our meal would have been good - we would have ordered a nightcap brandy or something but there was no one in evidence to serve. We were asked if we wanted tea or coffees but when we declined, waiting staff seemed to disappear and assumed we did not wish to have post prandial digestifs. Maybe they were short staffed that night as I noticed the wine waiter / general restaurant overseer was helping load provisions to the kitchen. Only a small thing but every small detail matters - it certainly does in my demanding profession. Not sure who the Maitre'D was - there did not seem to be anyone in that role apart from the very hard working aforementioned gentleman who was multi-tasking. I would return but the price is not for shallow pockets. I would not eat twice in the restaurant next time - but find somewhere else to have more variety. One small caveat for terrace diners I ordered a crab sandwich (£20) and almost had a heart attack when a gull swooped and stole one half. Perhaps a sign warning diners might be a good idea - we had not considered dive bombing Gulls - it was like something from a Hitchcock movie.
Champagne in the room as requested and a super welcome - our names on the door of the room and a note from Carl the host were very pleasing personal touches. Breakfast was excellent. A better quality of coffee would have been a bonus but we are very fussy about coffee. Beautiful sea view room, wonderful helpful, charming and friendly staff, fine (if a little overpriced) wines and generally a lovely place to stay for those who are looking for something rather special. Car parking is in designated area about four hundred yards away and up a flight of stairs to access the upper part of the car park - so not for the really elderly and infirm - was OK for us young seventy year olds. Overall a wonderful Hotel. Clearly some staff training was going on but overall the standard of service was excellent yet not stuffy - just the right balance of friendly conversation and respectful attention - compliments to all.

United KingdomDining service and food at dinner
The room was excellent and location. The reception staff very good. Unfortunately having dining staff issues we noticed. Food for breakfast was good unfortunately dinner was not very good and my starter mackerel was not cooked I left it and told the waitress but had no come back or explanation. We’ve dined at the restaurant before and food was much better. The over all experience was good but restaurant needs some attention to service and comment’s customer are notifying.

United KingdomDinners were very expensive - would have preferred more choice and/or an a-la-carte option rather than set menus
Amazing breakfast, with fantastic service, and top-notch food, in very comfortable sunny dining room with beautiful outlook through picture windows over harbour - we could never tear ourselves away in the mornings. Very cozy fire-side lounge. Genuinely nice, friendly and helpful staff.

United KingdomDissapointed with limited menu 3 choices each area .Menu items were duplicated next night from starter to main course . As fish is landed on the quay opposite why so little fish choices . The Hotel has always, in our experience over 40 years had exceptional food ,not this time . We had booked pre dinner at £60 pp ,the menu showed this at £80 which would be extortianate for what was offered
Location arguably the best in Cornwall Hotel rooms good size ,bath rooms good size .A good sea view .

Good but I was ill and had to stay in bed part of the time. It was not ther fault and they looked after me. However , lovely hotel as it it is overpriced, £85 for athletic course meal in the country is too much. £7.00 for a small can of beer?
